Digital Learning Day
Although schools were closed Tuesday with the threat of inclement weather, our students did not lose a day of learning. I know you’ll appreciate that more when February 18 rolls around and students still have a four-day weekend on the calendar. That, of course, is assuming we have no snow days between now and then. Thank you for your support in making this day meaningful for students.
Enjoy a super weekend as all eyes are on Atlanta with the Super Bowl game Sunday!

Community Service
Mr. Shakespeare organized a group of students and staff to volunteer at Open Hands. They helped prepare over 1,000 meals for Atlanta's citizens who are battling debilitating ailments.
6th Grade Parents - DMS Spanish Program
Dear 6th Grade Parents:
Your son or daughter has the opportunity to apply for the yearlong Spanish program at Duluth Middle School. This course is an entry level course for non native speakers. Spanish 1 at DMS is the equivalent to the high school Spanish I course, taught over two years in middle school. Students enrolled in yearlong Spanish 1 in middle school will receive a high school Carnegie unit for Spanish 1 when they complete the course in 8th grade. Numerous studies indicate that students who study a foreign language at an early age and stay with it for several years, perform better on the verbal section of the SAT. There are so many benefits to being bilingual in today’s world! You will find the link to the Spanish 1 program application on the Duluth MS website. If you have questions, please email Ms. MacLean.

The Wildcat Players theatre will be presenting Once on this Island Jr. soon! It is a family friendly island tale of a young girl named Ti Moune.
