What Have We Been Learning This Week?
Social Studies/Language Arts: In Social Studies we will be learning about the different landforms and bodies of water. We will learn about islands, peninsulas, oceans, lakes, valleys, mountains, and hills just to name a few. In language arts this week we will continue our focus on adverbs and adjectives. Often times, these two grammar concepts are confusing for students. After this week, we should have a good understanding of both.
Writing: We will continue our work with informative writing. The students are preparing to write an informative piece on a landform of their choice. I can't wait to see what new and interesting facts we learn as we research the various landforms and bodies of water.
Spelling/Phonics: Our spelling words for this week focus on the oo, ew, and ue patterns. The students have written the words in their agendas already. They are: chew, moon, loop, tooth, crew, spoon, broom, true, shampoo, and restroom. Please have your child study these words nightly. They can type them, write them in marker, spell them orally, or write them in shaving cream or sand.
Math: This week we will learn about measurement as we finish up Unit 4. The kids quickly caught on to place value last week as we used base-ten blocks to show different 3-digit numbers.

*We will have our winter celebration next Tuesday, December 20th. We will need paper plates, napkins, juice boxes, cookies, fruit, and pretzels/chips. We will also make a small craft during our celebration. If you would like to donate an item for our party, please let me know. As always, thanks so much for being awesome!
