Thursday, May 7th is Teacher Appreciation Day
Castro’s PTA is organizing activities to honor the unique relationship between families and the teachers and administration, and we also encourage each family to show their appreciation in your special way.
Castro’s PTA offered a breakfast on Tuesday, May 5th and is offering a catered staff lunch on Thursday, May 7th. Thank you to all the volunteers helping with these events. If you would like to help with the luncheon send an email to mmdinard@gmail.com.

Día del Niño/Día del Libro
Coming soon... Castro PTA sponsored Día del Niño/Día del Libro will be held on Sunday, May 17th on the school blacktop. This event is a Latin American celebration honoring the child, and which has been coupled with the celebration of literacy. Every year, our parent volunteers and our partners at Open Doors organize a party where they set up games, music and each child gets FREE books and prizes. We want to express a special thank you to Open Doors and to Castro parents, Brad Davis, Nicole Pillatsch, with the assistance of Trish Gilbert, Tim Downey and Amber Daughtry and William Buitron, who have volunteered to organize this magical family and community event. PLEASE HELP! Sign up sheets are by the classroom doors. Or email Brad Davis at davis@enrock.net.
We are also asking families to bring items for the event.
TK, K and 1st grade families please bring a 6-pack of water bottles.
2nd and 3rd please bring a pack of natural juice.
4th and 5th please bring natural juice Popsicle.

Día del niño / Día de los libros
To celebrate Día del Niño / Día del Libro, Castro students can turn in a coloring or drawing sheet and return to the office by Monday, May 11th. Additional coloring or drawing sheets are also available in the office. Your art will be displayed around the school to celebrate the event. All students submitting a coloring or drawing page will receive a prize at Día del Niño / Día del Libro on Sunday, May 17th from 2:30-5:00 pm at Castro School.
First Castro Garden Gathering
You Are Cordially Invited to the First Castro Garden Gathering

Time: 8:30 to 9:30 AM OR 6:30 to 7:30PM
Who: Castro Parents
Why: To thank Castro parents with kids who do Adopt a Barrel, help with garden clean up days, help with Living classroom, or are just interested in learning more about Castro Gardens!
Location: Teacher’s Lounge at Castro School
Refreshments will be served!
(Translator and childcare will be provided.)
