Early Life

Thione Niang was born into a poor family of 28 children, he immigrated to the United States in 2000 and moved to New York city without knowing the English language. When he graduated from Myers University where he got a Masters degree in Public Relations, he started his political career with the Cleveland City Council. Thione Niang slowly success throughout the years, and in 2008, he became one of the regional organizers for the campaign team of presidential candidate Barack Obama.

The Give 1Project is global organization that aims to engage young people as leaders in creating and building strong communities. The project has had successful operations of a network of hunger relief, health care, civic engagement, housing, legal services, employment training and educational programs. Thiones Niang's work shows how important it is for global leaders to influence their talent and energy to create higher levels of success and equality around the world.

What is a hero?

A hero is a person who would do something extraordinary to save something or someone or a whole generation. A hero has integrity, bravery, & will go where no man has gone before so prove what they believe. A hero will put his life on the line for a stranger.
Thione is a perfect example of a hero, because he spoke for himself and others. He faced many challenges when no one was by his side. Now he gives speeches around the world to politics and young adults. He is a hero because he has helped many people with food, health care, civic engagement, housing, legal services, employment training and educational programs.
