"Reach Every Student, Every Day."

Week of April 4th

We finished up the Science testing yesterday. The kids worked hard and got all three Science tests completed on Friday morning. We will continue testing next week. We will test ELA (Reading, Grammar, Spelling) on Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Please remember to help them get to bed at a decent time and eat a nutritious breakfast before they come to school. I learned yesterday morning that the 5th graders really like blueberry muffin coffee cake!

AR Goals

Notes were sent home last week about the progress each student has made towards his/her 4th quarter AR goal. We have several that have completed their goal and quite a few with ice cream scoops! That is great to see. Keep encouraging your child to read a minimum of 15-20 minutes at night! We want to finish the year strong!

Band Notes

Starting this week and continuing until our contest on April 23, band students will have the opportunity to practice their solos with their piano accompanist after school at the high school music room. I have sent home a schedule of days and times when students can practice. Each student needs to practice with their accompanist a minimum of 2 times. Students don’t need to “sign up” for a time, they should just come when they are available, but should plan on staying at least half an hour in case they have to wait in line. Don’t wait until the last minute in case two times isn’t enough. I want everyone to feel very ready, so come as often as needed.

Typically we have one or more conflicts with the date of our contest. We often have several students who travel to Pierre for State Shooting Sports on that day, among other things. Please let me know ASAP if you have a conflict so I can schedule your performance time accordingly, and I will send a complete schedule home next week. The entire contest will be finished by 11:00 A.M.

Please contact me with any questions you might have about the contest. I am so excited to showcase your students. They have worked very hard and will represent our school with pride!

Field Trip

The 5th grade class will be traveling to Mitchell again this year. We will visit the Prehistoric Indian Village and Corn Palace, and then finish up at the bowling alley! Students will need to bring $6 to cover the cost of our field trip. Students will also need to pack a sack lunch and be sure to wear/bring socks for bowling. I will send home a note as the date gets closer.
