A Note from Ms. Owens

Hello Charger Families,

In the coming days and weeks, please keep the entire community at St. Michael's in Orland Park in your prayers. They will, of course, be grieving the death of Margaret "Rone" Leja, their technology teacher, and they will be processing the reality that this unimaginable tragedy happened following their parish Christmas party. May they find comfort and strength in God's love.

For our 3rd-8th graders, it is time for the second round of ACT Aspire Interims. Next week, students will take their science interim. They will take math, reading and English in January once we return from Christmas break. Please encourage your child to make their best efforts on these formative assessments as the results help teachers identify areas of strength and areas of growth for their students.

Here are some of our upcoming events:

  • This Saturday, Mrs. Otto's class will participate in their First Reconciliation at 11 AM as they begin preparation for their First Communion.
  • On Sunday, it's time for Breakfast with Santa followed by our Preschool Christmas Show at 12:30 PM.
  • On Tuesday, December 10, students, staff and faculty are invited to donate $1 and dress down in support of the Ryan sisters.
  • On Wednesday, December 11 our Kinder-4th graders will perform their Christmas Music Concert at 1 PM and again at 7 PM.

Finally, we are well into the Advent season. As your family marks this season of expectant waiting, consider using some of the activities listed in the Advent calendar at the button below.

Thank you for all you do to support the St. Catherine community! Have a great rest of the week.

Peace,

Kristine Owens

Tuesday Hot Lunch Ordering

The link for placing hot lunch orders is below. Please remember that ordering closes at noon the day before delivery.

There will, of course, be days when parents have ordered a hot lunch and their child is absent. On those days, parents (or another designated person) are welcome to pick up the child's lunch. In order for this to happen, parents must notify the school of the hot lunch pick-up prior to 11 AM and then the actual lunch must be picked up before 12:30 PM. We cannot keep lunches beyond that or send them home with students due to food safety regulations.
