The Alabama State Department of Education is implementing a new benchmark assessment — the Alabama Comprehensive Assessment Program (ACAP) Summative Assessment — for students in grades 2-8. The testing window for the ACAP Summative is March 15 - April 30, 2021.
The ACAP Summative is a fixed-form, online assessment that is aligned to the Alabama Course of Study Standards.
The content areas tested are English language arts and math for grades 2-8 and science for grades 4, 6, and 8.
The assessment is timed.
IMPORTANT:
If a student misses a testing session or arrives after a session begins, the student will have to make up the session at another time. Please make every possible effort to have your child at school on his/her testing days. However, we understand and prefer for students who are sick to stay home!
No anticipated absences will be excused if missing a scheduled testing day.
If you have questions about the ACAP Summative, please contact Dr. Stocks or Mrs. White.
Each year the PTA gives a teacher the honor of being Teacher of the Year.
Please help your child nominate the teacher that you feel deserves this award.
Each student may nominate one teacher. Thank you!

Nominations will be accepted through Friday, April 16th.

During Enrichment and Young Author's Week at GSES this year, we will be celebrating nature! This week, which will take place the last week of April, will be centered around connecting with nature through science, the arts, and reading/writing. As we prepare for this exciting week, we need your help with a few things. If you are interested in sending in items to help with our Nature themed decorations, please click on the link below to sign up. We need to borrow items such as tents, kayaks, etc, and they can all be picked up once Nature Week is over. We also need willing volunteers to help decorate on the Friday before Nature Week. Please sign up on the form below if you are interested in helping with this as well.
We will also decorate parts of the school to highlight parks around our city, state, and nation where students can get outside to enjoy nature! If you have a picture of your family in a national, state, or city park, please print it, write your child's name and the name of the park on the bag or back of the picture and send it in to be featured. We cannot guarantee that you will get these pictures back, so please make sure it is a copy or a picture you are okay parting with.
Thank you so much!
