FSD Reading Interventionist ROCK!
Reading Intervention is a program that provides additional support to improve a student's overall reading performance. It is known as a “triple dip” program because these students receive three “dips” of reading each day, once in a whole group setting, a second in a small group, and a third from a reading interventionist. Intervention support is provided in a strategic setting. Several points of data are used to determine eligibility for the program, and this data, in turn, drives the instruction for each student. Progress monitoring is done to determine growth along the way. Students receive intervention until progress monitoring data reveals the student is no longer in need of reading intervention, at which time the student will be exited from the program.

FSD Emergency Response Terms
Safety is a top priority for the Farmington School District. Staff and students are trained and drilled regularly on appropriate responses in the case of an emergency or crisis situation. Should an emergency or disaster situation arise in our area while school is in session, we want you to know that the schools have prepared to respond effectively to such situations..
Emergency Planning is often broken into the following four areas:
Mitigation
Planning
Response
Recovery
What you can expect if an emergency occurs:
The emergency response will be implemented, and the district/school emergency teams will respond.
If necessary, appropriate emergency response agencies will be dispatched to the school.
Depending on the situation, students and employees will follow our emergency responses: Evacuation, Reverse Evacuation, Severe Weather Shelter, Shelter In Place, Drop/Cover,/Hold, Soft Lockdown, Hard Lock Down, or ALICE Response
Families will be kept informed on the situation with as much detail as possible. The first and official way for us to contact you in an emergency is using our Remind messaging system.
In an emergency situation, phones are needed to manage the situation, and lines must remain open. Calling could also put students and employees at risk in an intruder situation.
You will not be allowed on school grounds during an emergency. Emergency personnel responding to the situation need the area clear to do their job.
After emergency responders determine that a safe student release is possible, arrangements will be made to reunite students with their families. This will occur at a reunification site.
Students will not be allowed to take their property (backpack, etc.) with them in an emergency.
After an Emergency:
You may be directed to a reunification site, where you must show photo identification.
Students will only be released to a parent, guardian, or other adult listed on the student’s Emergency Information Form, which you completed at the beginning of the school year. The individual picking up the student will be asked to complete a Student Release Form (available on-site). This procedure is designed for your student’s protection and your peace of mind.
Please be aware that reunification can be time-consuming, and we appreciate your patience.
It is important to remain calm as their family’s sense of well-being greatly influences students. At the same time, families need to be compassionate listeners when their student speaks of an emergency. Please seek help from the school, district, or community resources if you/your student have concerns.
Heart Month Is Here!
Heart Month is here and the Farmington school district is excited to celebrate their 10th anniversary partnering with the American Heart Association. Each year Farmington works with the American Heart Association to raise awareness and educate our students and community on the importance of a heart healthy lifestyle, learn the life-saving skill of Hands Only CPR and offer the opportunity to help others.
The celebration kicked off at the Red Out Game basketball game on January 20th and the high school will continue to raise donations throughout most of February.
10th anniversary t-shirts are still available for a $10 donation. If you would like to donate you can click on this link: http://www2.heart.org/goto/FHScommunity
The Farmington elementary schools will be participating in Kids Heart Challenge during February they will be learning about heart and mind health, CPR and celebrating with a spirit week February 13-16. Check out your school newsletter for more information.
The American Heart Association has a goal to educate 1.8 million families on the life-saving skill of Hands Only CPR. Your family can be lifesavers by joining the movement and learning CPR through Finn’s Mission on your schools website.
