Te Whare Akoranga o Maungawhau, June 2, 2022
SCHOOL CLOSED FRI 3 & MON 6 JUNE
From The Principal
Tālofa lava,
This week, we have been celebrating Vaiaso o le Gagana Samoa - Samoan Language Week, with the theme Fa’aāuāu le Folauga i le Va’a o Tautai - Continue the Voyage with Competent Wayfinders of the Ocean.
As the second most spoken language in Auckland, this event is a fantastic learning opportunity and a chance to acknowledge and celebrate the unique culture, identity and heritage of Samoa.
Board Elections
In other news, as you may be aware, Board Elections are fast approaching, so please watch out for communications coming your way about the vital work of Trustees in schools and ways you can learn more and get involved. Nominations open in July.
Our plans for the next few years at MENPS are as critical as ever to ensuring the roadmap for our learners remains focused on their needs. Our aim is to deliver the best possible outcomes for every child, and I encourage anyone who may be interested to seriously consider the role and help make a contribution to key strategic decisions for the future at our school.
Related to this, in the coming weeks you will receive a MENPS BOT community survey, seeking views and consultation on what's working well, and what our priorities should be for the future.
This information will be collated to form a firm foundation for the new Board as they assume their roles. Not only will the responses we receive inform the development of our next Strategic Plan, but they will offer an invaluable opportunity to reflect the aspirations of parents, caregiver, staff and students, which we plan to follow up in more depth with focus group work.
Queen's Birthday Weekend
In the meantime, best wishes for the long weekend. Whatever the weather brings, I hope you enjoy an opportunity for some quality family time.
