Ms. Tate's News Blast

Room 167

The kids loved the snow today!!

Please remind your child to dress appropriately for recess this week in light of the latest snow fall.

Reminder, conferences are this month. Please sign up for a conference if you have not done so yet. Thanks to those of you who have signed up already!! You may use the link below!!

Please continue to check your child's words read each weekend. Our classroom runs on "Trimester" goals. Our second trimester ends on February 28th. Our daily at home reading goal is increased to 25 minutes for the rest of the school year. Remind your child to work hard on their reading each night!! The ReadAThon was a huge success. Thank you for all your help in cheering on your child and donating to their ReadAThon Goal. You may send the pledge money to school by Friday, February 5th. The PTO thanks you too!!

I will be heading to the Fabric Store on Friday to pick up the last of the fleece for our Blanket Tying Project. If you have not sent in your donation please do so by Friday!! Thanks again to the families who have already participated!!

We will be taking the Midwest Region Test on Thursday. It would be nice if you could find time to help your child review for the test. Thanks in advance for helping your child. We will be starting our next Science Unit, Rocks and Minerals, next week.

We are working on Chapter 9 - Decimals in Math. You can see what we are working on by looking at their Exit Slips each day/week. Please continue to check in with your child about their XTRA Math. As a reminder, all students should be through all levels of XTRA Math by the end of February. Knowing all of the +, -, x and division facts fluently is so very important!! You can help your child by checking in with them everyday and asking them what level they are working on. 5+ minutes each evening/weekend will help them get to the March Goal!! Be a strong cheerleader for your child!! If your child has completed their countbys and XTRA Math they should be working on STRETCH work for 5 - 10 minutes every evening. That is IXL or Moby Max.

We are completing our African American History Unit this week. All students have been researching 5 to 8 people. They are completing their Tech Response this week. Ask your child which App they have chosen for their project.

Thank you again for all that you do to help your child be a successful 4th Grader!!
