Principal's Greeting
Hello Camp Road Families,
After many years of dedicated service to the James Island community, its students, and its families, Mr. Parler has retired. Although I know this brings about many emotions, I join you in wishing him a restful and relaxing retirement. I am excited to carry the baton that he has so gracefully carried for the past 20+ years. As some of you have heard me say, I have big shoes to fill, and I will work my absolute hardest to fill them.
If I haven’t met you yet, let me take a minute to introduce myself. I am Ms. Rowehl, the new Principal at Camp Road Middle School. I have spent the last sixteen years as an educator in Tampa, Florida, where I have had the distinct pleasure to serve several communities. I started my career as a Middle School Social Studies teacher, teaching Geography and US History. Although I loved what I taught, it became clear that my passion wasn’t for social studies, but for finding ways to reach all students and assisting other educators in this same venture. So in 2013, I moved into the administrative ranks and found my purpose: helping teachers, staff, and students to grow as leaders and to reach their highest potential.
I firmly believe that relationships are at the heart of what we do as educators, and so I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you. As we move into the school year, it is my intention to sit down with any parent or community member that would like to chat with me. This will give me an opportunity to get to know our Camp Road community and to learn more about your experiences at Camp Road. If you would like to schedule a time to sit down with me, please use this sign up genius link below. In tandem with these meetings, I have also created a communication survey. The intent of this survey is to create a communication plan that works for all of our families.
What the faculty, staff, students, and families have accomplished at Camp Road Middle School is inspiring. I look forward to the amazing things that we can do for all of our scholars as we work together to take Camp Road Middle School to the next level!

Updated Camp Road Policies and Procedures
Over this summer our Camp Road Leadership Teams reviewed all of our policies and procedures. Changes were made to two policies that I want to make sure you are aware of before the start of the school year: the dress code policy and the cell phone and electronic device policy.
The dress code policy was adjusted to ensure equity as well as modesty among our Camp Road Students. We took into consideration that all of our students are unique, while still setting parameters that ensure all private areas are covered. This new dress code policy will be enforced as outline in the link below.
The Cell Phone and Electronic Device Policy was updated due to the fact that wireless earbuds were a continuous issue last year. Not only did students attempt to wear them in the hallways, but also in class during instruction. As it is our job to ensure a thorough and quality education for all students, the Camp Road staff feels that it would benefit the educational environment if students did not have access to wireless earbuds at school. We ask that they are left home and have included wired headphones on the student supply lists to ensure that students can use their chromebooks to their fullest capacity.
