FJVD Weekly Info

We Live the Word!

From the Principal's Desk

Dear FJVD Families,

I hope you had a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable Thanksgiving break! I'm grateful for your continued adherence to our safety protocols and procedures including mask-wearing, symptom screening, and travel guidance. While some of these protocols and procedures are challenging, ultimately each of these efforts help keep our school community safe and open for in-person learning!

We're thankful for our exceptional PTO who have planned two great events for the season. Our Virtual Gingerbread Decorating contest is happening now through December 11th. Pictures of your gingerbread creations can be sent to See the flyer below for more details, or click here to view our PTO flyer.

In addition, we're so excited for our Cruisin' Christmas Spectacular on Sunday, December 13th! Attendees must RSVP, and school families can use the link here: For more information, see the flyer below or view our PTO flyer here.

Please note that Picture Re-Take Day is this Tuesday, December 8th. If you have questions regarding picture re-takes, please contact Mrs. Boiardi.

Finally, as announced earlier this week, we are excited to transition to the FACTS Student Information System for the 2021-2022 school year at Father Doyle!

What services will FACTS SIS provide our school community?

  • Lunch ordering and payments - no more paper calendars or sending in checks!

  • Extended day scheduling and payments - no more paper calendars or mailing bills!

  • Incidental billings (i.e. field trips, fees, and other items)

  • Online application and enrollment management tools - paper application/enrollment/re-enrollment no longer needed, the entire process will be available online!

  • Online grading portal system for middle school students - similar to Gradelink, but with more streamlined features!

  • Student information database - families can update information themselves to ensure it remains current and accurate for school contacts!

  • Emergency alert services (text message and voice recorded calls) for snow days and other critical communications.

  • Tuition management and payments - currently provided through FACTS, we will continue with the same system.

  • And more!

All of these services will be provided on one platform, in one easy to access location for families!

For more information about FACTS SIS and the transition process, see the announcement here

Have a great weekend, everyone!

God bless and Go Saints!

Change in Academic Calendar - No School Wednesday, December 23rd

There will be no school Wednesday, December 23rd. Many nearby Catholic schools have opted to take this day as part of Christmas break, and others have moved to take the entire week out from school.

We know that the holidays are already going to be a challenge this year and will likely look different for many of our families. During these stressful and difficult times, we hope this additional day off, as well as the day off on Wednesday, November 25th, will be a helpful and appreciated reprieve and an opportunity to spend additional time together as a family.

Please note that our tentative end of school date remains June 16, 2021.

Screening, Travel & Christmas Break

As communicated via email to families, travel to high-spread communities is becoming an increasing concern noted by the Governor and Department of Health. With this in mind, we have adjusted our screening tool questions and ask families to consider the impact travel over the Christmas break may have on their child's ability to return to in-person learning. See below for more information:

If your child has traveled to a state with a high community spread rate according to the list maintained by RIDOH, they must quarantine for fourteen days. The list of states maintained by RIDOH changes regularly, so please check frequently if you are planning to travel.

Please note that these travel procedures set forth by the Department of Health also apply to travel over the Christmas holiday. If your family is planning to travel during this time, please consider how this travel may impact your child's ability to return to school at the conclusion of break.

If you have questions or concerns regarding RIDOH travel procedures and how they may or may not impact your child, please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Thank you for your continued adherence to these and all of our safety guidelines and procedures. Together, we can work to keep our community safe and healthy in the weeks ahead.

Probable Cases & Testing Procedures

The Department of Health has released additional resources for families regarding how to proceed if your child has symptoms at home or becomes ill at school. You can find the RIDOH Resources for Families here. Please note, if your child is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 that indicate a probable case, please call 844-857-1814 from 7:30am-9:30pm seven days a week schedule a test through the K-12 Testing Network. You should also notify the school as soon as possible.

If your child is experiencing symptoms and is being tested, two tests will be conducted at the K-12 testing site - a rapid test with results within 24 hours, and a PCR test with results within 48 hours. Please note, students are not permitted to return to school until both tests are negative and symptoms have resolved. In addition, families must complete the After Illness Return Attestation Form which can also be found on the homepage of our school website under "Important Links."

A reminder that our hybrid learning policies for students absent due to illness or quarantine can be found in our Hybrid Learning Guide for Students and Families as well as in a quick reference guide here.

Aluminum Can Tab Collection

What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected

Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence

How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.

Bottle Cap Drive

We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This provides new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.

All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.

Thank you!
