Coercive/Intolerable Acts
By Antavis and Maggie
Main Information
After the Boston Tea Party, Parliament passed several acts. Parliament closed the Boston Ports, they established the Administration for Justice Acts (Murder Acts), and the Massachusetts Government Act.
Acts
Although three of these Coercive Acts affected Boston, the committee formulates a plan of resistance. Boston's plan was to vary widely within the town across America. Other colonists wonder if paying for tea destroyed in Boston harbor will appease Parliament.
Why was It important?
It was important because it was a cause of the war. It angered Americans and was seen as an infringement of the colonist fundamental rights. Parliament closed the port of Boston, restricted local authority and banned most town meetings. It ended with a set of resolutions some of these were the right to life, liberty, and property and set all cases to taxation.
