Walking to Your Classes at AMS

There are students not following safe and neighborly behaviors on their walks to and from AHS for AMS classes. As a reminder:


  • use designated walking paths and sidewalks
  • only cross streets at intersections and watch for traffic
  • be aware that you are walking through neighborhoods and be good Seahawks representatives

Class Election Speeches

Class election speeches are this Wednesday during Advisory in the following locations:

Juniors will go to the stadium.

Sophomores will go to the amphitheater.

Freshmen will go to the commons.

Seniors will go to their regular Advisory class. Please make sure you attend your advisory class.


Ballots will be emailed Thursday by the beginning of 3rd period.

Seniors - Anacortes School Foundation Scholarship and Awards Night, Wednesday, May 22

Recipients will receive an invitation to this ceremony. Held this week on Wednesday, the ASF Scholarship/Awards Ceremony will be at 6pm in the AHS Commons.

Girls Swim and Dive

There will be an interest meeting for Girls Swim and Dive on Wednesday, May 22. It will be held in room 12 from 2:15 to 2:40. There will be important information regarding upcoming fundraisers and practice times over the summer. Please bring a friend or anyone you know that may be interested! Last Hawk Talk for the School Year

We have one more Hawk Talk scheduled for this Thursday. Sergeant Betts will be discussing his career with the Washington State Patrol.

Lost Watches, Cell Phones, Jewelry, Keys

Have you lost your watch? Have you lost any jewelry? Keys? Ear phones?


Come to the main office and identify your lost item. We want to get it back to you!!

Cross Country Meeting on May 28

There will be a pre-season informational meeting for anyone interested in Cross Country on Tuesday, May 28, 2:30 PM, in AHS Commons.

Seniors - Graduation Ticket Information

All tickets have been requested. The office staff are working to free up as many tickets as we can. If you need more than 6 tickets, please sign up on our waiting list.

The Innovation Expo is an opportunity for families, the community, and industry partners to take a peek at the work being done in ASD classrooms. The Anacortes School District would like to show the community how their continued support has allowed students access to high quality learning experiences every day.

Students and families will also have opportunities to connect with local community and industry partners. This year’s partners include: ● Shell Puget Sound Refinery ● PACCAR ● The City of Anacortes ● Janicki ● Naval Air Station Whidbey Island

Free admission and all are welcome!

ASD’s food services will provide baked goods during the event to showcase their scratch cooking and partnership with Viva Farms and Cairnsprings Mills.

Senior Post High School Plan forms Due June 3rd

It is time to have all seniors complete the required Senior Post High School Plans form. This form provides critical information used to identify which university each senior will need a final transcript mailed to (if applicable), in addition to providing needed data regarding the Class of 2019 as a whole. Graduating seniors will not be able to check out or receive graduation tickets at the end of the year without completing this short, required form. Please note that you will have the ability to submit an updated response if anything changes or you receive new information.

Honor Society Members - Next Meeting is June 5th

Attention Juniors/Seniors:

Some of you may have received an email from Mrs. Stamper and Mrs. Fankhauser regarding the number of meetings you have attended thus far. Please check your email promptly and remember in addition to a 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA, you must attend at least six meetings per year including Hawk Talk and have a cumulative total of 40 community service hours by senior year. Thank you.

SAT Prep Class After School on Wednesday's

SAT Prep Class Information:


  • FREE, Wednesdays after school 2:30-4:00 during May

  • Led by Steven Dolmatz

  • 5 sessions 5/1 - 5/29

  • Covering Critical Reading, Language/Writing, Math, and two practice sessions in that order

  • Held in the AHS Library

  • Covers test practice, review, test taking strategies

  • Sign up in the main office

  • SAT Test on June 1

Food To Go

Anacortes Food to Go - If you are hungry and need food over the weekends. You can get free food through Food to Go Anacortes.

This is a weekend backpack food program for Anacortes students. If you are in need, please contact Food to Go - (360) 708-3037 or ftgAnacortes@gmail.com

Parking Restrictions at the Middle School

Attention to all students. If you drive to school, please make sure you park in the High School student parking lot for the entire day. You will need to walk to any of your classes that are held at the middle school. No parking is allowed at the middle school for high school students.


Pictures of license plates will be taken and tickets will be issued for students who park their cars at the middle school.

Attendance is absolutely critical to success in school. Let's work toward a goal of 100% attendance.

Attention Students

A friendly reminder that no students should be in flex spaces and hallways after 3:30. If you have someone picking you up, please wait down stairs in the Commons.


Also, please no food or drinks in the flex spaces with the exception of water only

Lost & Found Small Valuable Items

If you have lost any small valuable items, please check the main office

If you have lost any bigger items such as clothing, water bottles, etc please check under stairs


These items will all be taken away soon and donated so please check if you are missing anything

Visitor Check-In

It’s a new school year and everyone will have to check in. In order to better protect our students, visitors and staff, all visitors will be required to show a valid government-issued ID

Umbrellas Available

Attention Students - umbrellas are available for use going to and from middle school when it's raining. If you take an umbrella, please bring it back with you upon returning to the high school. Umbrellas are in bins located in the main entrance
