What's New in Room 182

Mrs. Peters' 3rd Grade * June 3, 2016

"We did a LOT of things this week!"

I have to quote a popular exclamation from multiple Family Journals today to sum up our week. What a packed four days! Students stayed flexible and were welcoming to ALL of our guests (both human and... crustacean!!) and continued to learn a lot from their new experiences! Only a few more days to keep up that great work!!

Mrs. Peters

Mystery Readers x2!

This week we were fortunate to have not one, but TWO Mystery Readers!!

Mrs. McDaniel, Ani's mom, peaked our interest in a new series on Tuesday with The Bad Beginning, the first book in "A Series of Unfortunate Events." It's been a favorite to check out all week!

Then today, Mrs. Hovland, Brek's mom, helped us connect with our animal science unit by reading the book, What If You Had Animal Ears? It has been really fun to think about and picture what it would be like to have unique animal adaptations... but maybe only to try out for a day!!

Focus on the Curriculum

ELA

  • Biographies
We are going to create "Shadow Puppet" presentations this week to enhance our written biography reports. Final products will be posted in Schoology for your viewing (and learning!) pleasure!

  • Book Clubs

We're reading and discussing speedily this week to wrap up our Book Club work. It's been such a neat way for students to apply and show all they know about reading after this year!

Grades/Test Scores UPDATE

Grades

Please note (from EPS): Students' final grades within the Infinite Campus grade book will be available online at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, 6/13. Until that time, grades within the grade book should be viewed as preliminary as teachers are working on solidifying evidence of learning. Grades are not final until report cards are posted online on Monday, June 13th by 4:00 p.m.

If you do not see a grade for your child, please do not be alarmed. This simply means that your child’s teacher is solidifying their grade before posting it. Similarly, a change in grade over the final few days of school would also indicate that a teacher is entering final data into the grade book. If you have any questions, please contact your school directly.

Test Scores

Students will bring home their MCA and NWEA score reports, along with an informative parent letter, on Wednesday, June 8. I cannot stress again how proud I am of ALL of their hard work this year!!
