Alaska Works Partnership
(AWP)
Are you interested in entering the "TRADES" after High School?
Alaska Works Partnership (AWP) is one of the many organizations that can help you on your pathway.
What is Alaska Works Partnership (AWP)?
The Alaska Works Partnership is a statewide program that provides FREE training to anyone who is interested in going into a trade. Basically, it is an audition, as many of the instructors are also involved in the hiring. The courses are typically a week long and usually an 8 hour day. Training Centers are located in Anchorage, MATSU and Fairbanks.
Why Take Training Courses with AWP?
Megan and Ryan can state with 100% assurance that taking a course will greatly increase your chances of getting hired into a trade apprenticeship program. Additionally, it has been noted by many apprenticeship hiring authorities that a high school student that takes any of the courses, even if it is not related to the trade they are interested in, shows the student is interested in the trades and has the work ethic to be successful.
Can I Earn High School Credit?
Raven will award .25 or .5 elective credits for successful completion of a course through Alaska Works. Credit earned is based on the length of the class 35 hours = 0.25 credits
