Identifying Characateristics

-A large, smooth, and strong globose shell that has a concentrically marked opercula.

-Width-height ratio is about 0.74-0.82 on average.

-Has an operculum (trap door) on shell.

-The inner shell is most commonly white and blue.

-The shell has 6-7 whorls.

-They exhibit light coloration as a juvenile and olive green, greenish brown, reddish brown, or brown pigmentation as an adult.

-They can have up to 7 small cusps on the marginal tooth and a large central cusp with four small cusps on either side.

LAST SEEN

From Southeast Asia to Japan and Eastern Russia (places such as Burma, Thailand, the Philippines and Java).

SUSPECTED HIDEOUTS:

The Great Lakes, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, California (San Fransisco Bay), Colorado, Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, and 15 other United States.

*The Chinese Mystery Snail prefers to mainly seek shelter near the shores of lakes, ponds/rivers, underwater half buried in sediment, or in irrigation/ roadside ditches. Thriving in temperatures ranging from 34-80 degrees F.*
