Tiger Update - September 9, 2022

Tiger Upadate

Hello Tigers! I’m Mr. Behrman, the proud principal of Fishers Elementary School. Welcome to the Tiger Update for the week of September 9th! This week has flown by and been PACKED with tons of learning! It’s amazing how a four-day week can sometimes feel even longer than a typical week!

Earlier this week, like all of you, I received the NWEA Student Progress Report for both of my kids. I always appreciate these reports because it tells me a bit about where my child is as a learner. I do want to remind you that NWEA is but one of the many pieces of information that our teachers use to know your child as a learner. Our classroom teachers are also in the process of gathering guided reading level data, along with observation and assessment to help us know as much as we can about each child. If you have questions about the NWEA, or any other aspect of your child as a learner, feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher.

With the completion of the first round of NWEA testing, we have spent a lot of time analyzing what the data shows us about our students. During the past 2 weeks, I, along with members of our building leadership team, have been meeting with each classroom teacher to look over this data and talk about our students. This will allow us to be better able to support all our learners!

Today I also wanted to take a moment to let you know about the upcoming spirit wear sale. Look for information from the PTO soon on how to access the website to order your Tiger some new gear! I’m excited about the tie-dye FES t-shirt!

As always, thank you for taking the time to join me today! Have a great weekend! Be sure to ask your Tiger about the best part of their week, and do not forget, it is a great day to be a Tiger!

Robotics Reminder

Here are a few reminders for third and fourth grade students who have submitted an application to try out for our Robotics Team:

  • Try outs end at 4:00pm. We will be utilizing the car rider line for pickup. Please follow car rider procedures for this to run smoothly.
  • Students should bring a healthy NUT FREE snack.
  • Dismissal MUST be changed to "Robotics" in Dismissal Manager. If this is not changed, the student can NOT stay.
  • ALL students will be notified of their status on the team no later than Friday, September 16.
