PINE HOLLOW MIDDLE SCHOOL
July 14, 2020
Parents,
At last night's MDUSD Board Meeting, board members indicated that MDUSD schools will begin the year in full distance learning mode. The Board is expected to finalize this decision with an official vote in the next week or two. You can read more about this decision, and the hiring of our new superintendent here.
I also wanted to let you know that Pine Hollow has 16 staff members who are volunteering their time this summer to prepare for the new school year. These staff members are on one of three teams (Logistics and Operations Team; Culture and Community Team; Curriculum and Instruction Team) that are meeting multiple times per week to prepare for what we know will be a unique and challenging school year.
These teams are working to review state and county guidelines, best practices for distance learning, health data, and stakeholder feedback. They are also developing protocols, strategies, guidelines, lesson plans, assessments, and norms that will allow our staff to better serve all students and families during distance or hybrid learning models.
I will share more information about schedules, Walk-Through Registration, campus tours, Back to School Night, distance learning formats, and more in the coming weeks as plans are solidified. Although all of us are disappointed that we likely won't have students back on campus to start the year, our staff is fully committed to doing everything we can to make distance learning more effective for all. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Thank you,
Ben Campopiano
Principal, Pine Hollow Middle School
