About the Book
The book is called Hatchet. Hatchet is about a boy named Brian who is flying on an airplane to see his dad. But the plane crashes. Then, he finds himself alone in the Canadian wilderness. All he has to survive is a hatchet, a windbreaker, and his clothes. Brian has a hard time figuring out how to survive in the beginning. But as he does it more he becomes a master survivor. In Hatchet Gary describes a slithering creature very well. He says"Then he heard the slithering. A brushing sound, a slithering brushing sound near his feet."
Theme
I think the theme of Hatchet is persistence because even though Brian was by himself he learned to survive. He also kept trying to catch food and make weapons and finally he did it. Brian was able to get tons of fish and a rabbit because he kept trying.
My Favorite Character
My favorite character is Brian. He is very brave, smart, and persistent. Brian stayed strong even though he has had many problems like that moose ramming into him. He was smart with the hatchet so he was able to make fire. Finally, he was brave when there was a bear close to him he just stood their he did not run away.
