PARCC Testing

We begin PARCC testing on Monday, April 11. We will have testing on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday of next week. The following week we have testing on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. We have been doing practice with the PARCC testing here at school in preparation for the next couple of weeks. I have spoken with the students several times regarding the test in hopes of minimizing any anxiety they might be feeling. I have told students that this does not impact their grade and that all they need to do is get a good night sleep, eat a good breakfast, and try their best.

Caine's Arcade!

I am so excited to be sharing about our Caine's Arcade Force and Motion project! This week students started planning out/ designing an arcade game that they are going to be building here at school. These games will be completely functional! I have been so impressed with the ideas they have come up with so far. The one guideline is that students need to be able to fully explain the science concepts involved in their game. We will be building these games next week and in order to do so we need an abundance of supplies - thank you SO much for everything that has already been sent in. The one supply not mentioned on our list was large cardboard boxes. After we began our planning we realized we will be in need of quite a few larger boxes as well. If you have any extras laying around that you would be willing to donate we would be very appreciative. Thank so much for your support on this project.

Check out the Video of Caine's actual Arcade! There is also a part 2 which shows how Caine's Arcade has inspired other children and schools to engineer their own cardboard games.

Donations Needed

Cold and flu season hit us hard this year. Therefore, we are in need of Kleenex donations. If you are able to donate one box of Kleenex to our classroom it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
