Grady College Student Newsletter
Greetings from the Grady Career Consultant
Hi, Grady students!
We're just a few weeks away from the Journalism and Mass Communication Career Day, and I hope you all are thinking of attending. Please note that you don't have to attend every event on the schedule--feel free to use the day as a mix and match depending on what works for you. If you're unable to make the career fair portion of the event but are available earlier in the afternoon, I would strongly encourage you to sign up for the networking luncheon before spots fill up!
There's more info below on the event, related prep events, and multiple days/times to meet with the Career Center to prepare for Career Day or additional job/internship application processes.
This newsletter will be a way for me to share career-related information. This includes Career Center events, events and other ways to connect with employers, ways to gain experience for your resume, and other career tips. Be on the lookout for it every other week.

Career Caravan Trip to Atlanta
The UGA Career Center will be coordinating a day-long corporate bus trip from Athens to Atlanta for students to learn more about company culture and career paths. The trip will include stops to two companies, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) and The Home Depot. Transportation will be provided. Previous participants have said that trips like this were the most beneficial experience related to their career development.
This event would be a great hands-on opportunity for any student interested in or considering a corporate communications career path in the future. Even if you are not interested in employment at one of these specific companies, this Career Caravan will provide participants with great insight into the mind of a recruiter, what corporate office spaces might look like, and how to set yourself up for success in the job or internship search.
The application will ‘go live’ on Handshake on January 10th at 8:00 a.m. and close on January 31st at 11:55 p.m. To apply, search “UGA Career Caravan” or posting #1219911 on Handshake, or follow this link. Questions about the event can be directed to Whitney Prescott at wnpress@uga.edu.
