"NUTS AND BOLTS" NOTES

Compass Learning Licenses

Our Compass Learning Licenses have been adjusted this year due to Compass Learning restructuring their licensing/pricing along with our district budget constraints. We will have 20 licenses at each building and will have K-5 math content only. Students and their accounts are in the same state as last year. The Technology Department is in the process of working with CL to get the new environment operational. We are hoping to have this up and running soon and will provide you with updates as we receive them.

MLP - SLO

Since it is September, I know many of you (teachers) are already thinking about your SLO. As I explained at our inservice before school started, I will be providing information and guidance for you throughout the year regarding Educator Effectiveness. SLO creation is one of the areas that will be included in this. In the next few days, I will be sharing some resources with you that you can begin to look over. Then, we will spend some time at our faculty meeting on September 17 discussing the creation of SLOs. After the faculty meeting, you can begin discussing SLOs in your grade level team meetings. The Leadership Team will be discussing SLOs further at our next meeting on October 1, and then this will carry in to the combined grade level team meetings on October 6 so groups can share and begin to finalize their plan for their SLOs. The Professional Goal Setting Plan, which includes the SLO, Self-Reflection, and PPG is due on October 15. Remember, we want to stick as close to this date as possible but we have a little bit of flexibility. I will meet with teams/teachers regarding their SLO during the week of October 12.

Also, keep in mind that you should be working on your self-assessment right now and your teacher survey growth plan is due on October 16. You should begin formulating your survey as soon as possible and be ready to administer it by the end of September or early October.

MAPS Testing

MAPS testing starts Tuesday! Here is the MAP schedule. We will add in the times for 5th grade soon. Also, K-4 teachers, please remember to fill in the spreadsheet sent to you via email regarding accomodations given last year. Thanks!

Math Flexible Grouping

There will be a parent letter going out on Tuesday afternoon regarding math flexible grouping. We will email the letter to all teachers as well so you have the information that was shared with parents. I will also send out a "talking points" document for you to use during curriculum nights.

Also, 2nd-5th grade level teams - please work together and formulate a plan for how you will implement flexible grouping, including your scope and sequence for the year. You should be prepared to discuss this at the next combined grade level team meeting, which is on September 22.

Curriculum Nights

Here are the dates for our upcoming curriculum nights:

1st Grade - Thursday, September 10 - 5:30-6:30 p.m.

4th/5th Grade - Tuesday, September 15 - 5:30-6:30 p.m.

WEEKLY SPOTLIGHT

PBIS Committee Leads All-School Assembly

The PBIS Committee did a great job organizing an all-school assembly to kick-off our schoolwide expectations with the students. There was videos (starring our very own staff members), singing, chanting, and a visit by the Jaguar mascot. It was a great way to set the tone for the year. Thank you to all who helped with the assembly and to everyone for being supportive and reviewing the excpectations with your students. Go Jaguar Pride!
