Ms. LaTonya Webb Survivor Story
Latonya Webb is originally from Alexandria, Louisiana. She has a 26 year old son and an 18 year old daughter. She moved to Dallas in 2003 for a better life for her son. She officially made Dallas her home when she bought a house in 2007. In 2014 she had breast cancer. She refused chemotherapy, however, she received 36 rounds, Monday- Friday of radiation. She had half of both breasts removed. They told her that the cancer would not return, however, in October of 2021 she had a burning sensation on her breast and when she went to have it checked out they told her the cancer had returned. She had a double mastectomy in 2021, and still refused to receive chemotherapy. In January of 2022, she returned to work but now is taking pills for the rest of her life. In June 2022 she had reconstructive surgery for her double mastectomy. She is currently working at DMA and has a second job as well. She is very grateful to the DMA students and families who support her so well.
Ms. Dorothy Keeton Survivor Story
Dorothy Keeton is a native of Dallas, TX, is married, and has one daughter. She had a life changing experience years ago. In 2007 she started suffering from pain in her stomach. She went to have a colonoscopy done, and soon after, received a very scary diagnosis: colon cancer. By the grace of God, she didn't go through cancer treatment. She had surgery to remove a colon mass and then had to see the oncologist once a month to get checked out. Her last visit was in 2014 because they found no trace of cancer. This December will be 14 years cancer free. Her advice is: know your body and get checked out.
