Jump Rope for Heart... New Record!
It was a very successful year in Kids Heart Challenge this year. Our goal was to raise 16,000. We raised $21,470 for the American Heart Association. This is our best year yet! Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community and donors from 16 states across America along with Puerto Rico.
Students at Friess Lake Elementary School got their hearts stronger while participating in 12 jumping stations or setting records in short and long rope techniques. Way to be heart heroes!
National History Day Results
The students who moved on to Regionals are being judged this week. Results will be cited in next month's newsletter.
NEW HHASD Family Member!
Welcome to the family!
Ms. Alli Hedrick (FLES School Counselor) and her husband, Jeremy, welcomed their new daughter Eliza Ann on March 24, 2022. She was born around 4pm and weighed in at 7 pounds, 4 ounces and 19 inches long. She joins big sister, Clarke, at home. They are all doing well!
Student Celebrations
Ms. Pacetti was in attendance at the March 21st Board meeting to honor our student artists for their achievements during Youth Art Month! Our students performed incredibly in the Conservation poster art contest for the county and are several placed at the WAEA competition!
Staff Salutes
Our team of educators is top notch, and three were specifically recognized in March for their leadership among educators across the state. Mr. Heinritz was recognized for presenting at the state WHPE conference; Ms. Hartlmeier for presenting at the Joint Education Convention; and Ms. Pacetti for presenting at the WAEA Art & Soul Conference.
Spotlight on Learning: Music
Ms. Anne Zabel and Ms. Cayla Pazen dazzled the Board this month with their music presentation. The two talked about celebrations from this year including bringing back live performances, our ACE partnership, and ideas for their music programming next year.
Discussion & Action
Discussed:
John Berget of CESA 10 was present to discuss the summer renovations and RFP process and timeline. Following this, the 10-Year long range plan, which guides Fund 46, was discussed.
The HUHS 2022-23 Food Service Agreement was discussed, and was later approved. This approval is about continuing our food service arrangement with the high school and does not set pricing for 2022/23, this will be discussed and approved at a later board meeting after the DPI worksheet is released.
Ms. Howe provided an update on each of our insurances, including that we are going out to bid for some of them in order to maintain fiscal responsibility.
Dr. Villalobos discussed the pandemic situation and current mitigation plan. She shared her intent to follow the burden level in the county and district following break. She will make a recommendation to the Board at the April 11th meeting regarding next steps. If the trend worsens, she will make a recommendation to continue with mitigation measures; if the trend continues with an improved trajectory, she intends to recommend to returning to business as usual, with the exception of continued availability of covid testing for families who are interested in testing.
Action
- The food service agreement with HUHS was approved for the 2022/23 school year.
HHASD Night Out: Bucks for the Win!
On March 2nd, approximately 75 HHASD families attended the Bucks game. And, what a game it was! One of our students got to participate in one of the court games, another student made it on the Dance Cam, and the Bucks won in the final seconds of the game!
How do I read that again?
