Guidance Update:
Please be aware our goal is to ensure registration for all students is complete by May - so IF a student is out sick, please do not send them to us, we will send a pass to reschedule with those students.
We will not get Tech Center Program results until April (just so you know).
If a student shares he/she would like to meet with his/her counselor on anything besides registration - please just send that specific counselor an email, and we can try and see them, as soon as we can.
Just a reminder: if any student makes a comment (verbal or electronic) in regards to self-harm, please notify the guidance office immediately. Guidance counselors must complete a risk assessment with the student as soon as possible in regards to these matters.
Teacher expectations regarding TAC/HAC
LMS, MBMS, and LHS are piloting "Z's" in TAC for the 4th MP.
Teachers shall use Z grades as necessary for placeholders for missing assignments/assessments. Z grades will calculate into a student’s grade as a zero until the student has earned a grade for the assignment.
This will provide students and parents with an accurate reflection of their overall grade. Typically, an accurate grade is not reflected as the score is excluded until the end of the quarter. At the end of the quarter, the assignment grade calculates to a zero and a student grade is negatively affected. This would also be the first time the student or parent was able to view the overall grade with this assignment as a zero. Essentially the overall grade could go from a B to an F at the end of the quarter. This is why students and parents get upset when their grade goes from a B to an F overnight. The Z would calculate as a zero right away and provide the student/parent with this visible data prompting them to rectify the missing assignment/assessment immediately.

Upcoming: Tardy Blitz
As we get closer to spring break and the end of the school year, more and more students seem to be wandering the hallways and late for class.
Consequently, we're going to host a series of "Tardy Blitzes". Because we have a tardy-policy already in place, we're going to advertise these upcoming blitzes on LTV and in Ms. Mills's Weekly Update. We plan to run the blitzes starting the last week of March through April 12th.
What we need you (teachers) to do:
When the blitz is announced over the loud speaker, please make note of every student that's late (without an excused pass) to that period on a common google doc that will be sent to the staff.
Administrators will call the documented students down one-by-one and go over each student's documented tardies. If it is the students first tardy (according to TAC), we will issue a warning. If they have been marked tardy before the blitz, it will result in a lunch detention.
Staff - please continue to use the tardy policy during "Blitz Season".
