Message from the Principal
I have had amazing experiences in hearing from students at recess as well as in classrooms this week. Here are a few of the fun things I have learned from spending time with your students this week:
Fractions are amazing!! You can describe them in so many ways and they keep going beyond one whole. In fact, the number 2 can also be described as 8-fourths! Awesome!!
Zip! Bang! Boing!! Onamonapia is an incredible word and using words that sound like you read them is a fun way to make our writing more exciting.
And perhaps most importantly: If you are on an imaginary tightrope and you think you are walking over a swimming pool, watch out! It could magically become molten lava in the middle of your walk!! (Don’t worry. I made it across safely, but it was exciting!)
My interactions remind me of a quote from one of my favorite authors. Elena Aguilar (2018) shares, “It's good to spend time with kids because they remind us that age and experience can narrow our perception of events. Change doesn’t have to be terrifying” (p. 287).
Please keep reading for additional information about 2021-22 registration, Kindergarten Registration night is next week, and much more.
Thank you for sharing your kids with us!
Warmly,
Stephanie
2021-2022 School Registration
School online registration is now open for new students for the 2021-2022 school year. Click here for registration information: https://www.monroe.wednet.edu/about/register-for-school. In order to register, parents will need their child’s immunization records, proof of age (birth certificate, passport, an adoption record, etc.), and proof of address (property tax statement, utility bill, etc.).
Kindergarten Registration Night

If you have an incoming kindergarten student or know of a neighbor or family member who may have incoming kindergarteners, please feel free to pass along the information. Children must be 5 years old by August 31, 2021 to qualify for next fall’s kindergarten class. Please call the school office at (360) 804-3600 if you have any questions.
Spring Conferences
Spring conferences will be taking place over the next few weeks. This is in addition to the fall conferences, when teachers meet with all families. The spring conferences are designed to support students who are identified by their teacher in partnership with families as benefiting from an additional conference. Look for communication from your child’s teacher with additional information.
This spring, to accommodate students returning to in-person learning, our schedule is as follows:
Kindergarten: the week of March 22 (as scheduled in the original school calendar)
3rd-5th grade: April 2nd
