Kids & Covid-19 Vaccines
The Hamilton County Health Department recently hosted a town hall to help answer many of the common questions parents have about getting their kids vaccinated against COVID-19. Dr. Christopher Belcher, a pediatric infectious disease specialist at Ascension Medical Group in Carmel, and Dr. Shobana Pandian, a pediatrician at Community Health in Fishers, led the discussion and answered people's questions.

Free Lunch Meals for All Students

As a part of the United States Department of Agriculture’s national COVID-19 waiver program, Westfield Washington Schools will be providing breakfast and lunch meals for FREE, all year long, to all Pre K-12 students, whether you apply for free/reduced lunch or not. You will still need to apply for the free/reduced program in order to receive financial assistance for curricular materials (textbooks, workbooks, classroom novels, online resources, and supplies like science lab chemicals, and art supplies).

What is considered a free meal?
Students can receive one free lunch AND one free breakfast per school day. Meals must meet the existing USDA guidelines in order to be free, meaning meals MUST include an entrée, fruit/vegetables and milk. A la carte/snack items (extra entrees, beverages, and snacks/drinks) will still be an additional charge.

Do we still need Lunch Time accounts?
Yes, students can still use lunch accounts to purchase additional meals, snacks and a la carte items. If a student does not take an entrée, fruit/veggie AND a milk, their Lunch Time account will be charged for the a la carte items.

Are pre-K snacks free?

Pre-K snacks will NOT be free as the waiver only applies to two MEALS per day.
