Winter and Snow Activities
This week PP enjoyed doing some innovative and unique painting experiences: They used brushes to painted on ice (Tinfoil); roller brushes to make white snow tracks on blue paper; rinted with the bottom of plastic bottles to make snowflake designs; and glued styrofoam pieces and cotton batting to fluff up our huge snowpeople in the hall.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
In our classroom on Thursday Preprimary talked about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., focusing on how he helped people get along. Using multicolored skin doll figures we play acted and modeled positive ways for children to interact. After looking at different pages of the book, Shades of People; everyone shared details about themselves; including hair color or length; glasses; or freckles. Stretching out on the rug PP enjoyed comparing arm colors too! See photo below…
In Library Mrs. Stifel read parts of two books; Martin’s Big Words by Doreen Rappaport, and My Brother Martin by his sister, Christine King Farris.
