Face Mask Requirements Update
As you know the Governor signed an Executive Order on September 25th requiring face coverings to be worn in elementary classrooms which will become effective tomorrow. However, the recent Michigan Supreme Court ruling that Gov. Whitmer "did not have authority after April 30, 2020 to issue or renew any executive orders related to the COVID-19 pandemic under the Emergency Management Act" may make this ineffective.
We will continue to follow our current face covering protocol for elementary students. This has been in place since we began school and requires students to wear face coverings when they are unable to social distance in the classroom.

Art Supplies
Hello Alamo families! My name is Mrs. White and I am new to the district this year. I have been teaching in the Grand Rapids area and am so happy to be joining the OPS team! I will be splitting my time between Dix Street and Alamo Elementaries and I am beyond excited to create with your artists! While donations for Art Room supplies are never expected or required, they are GREATLY APPRECIATED and help limit shared supplies. Below is a list of frequently used art supplies.
FREQUENTLY USED ART SUPPLIES:
COLORED PENCILS (12pk)
CRAYONS (24pk)
BROADLINE MARKERS (10pk)
1 BLACK PERMANENT MARKER
1 PENCIL
1 LARGE ERASER
1 GALLON or QUART SIZE BAG (to keep each student’s supplies)
Individual supplies brought in by your student will only be used by your student. If a supply is needed (scissors, glue bottles, paint brushes, etc.), students will be allowed to use district materials. The district materials will be sanitized prior to being used and after being used. Thank you for your continued support! Please reach out with any questions!

Alamo Trail for Treaters
If you are interested in donating candy to our Alamo Trail for Treaters, please send your donations to school with your child or drop them off in the office (after the bell rings).
We will be accepting individually wrapped candy or small, individual trinkets such as pencils, tattoos, rings, bounce balls, etc. until October 26th. Thank you for considering a donation. This will not be possible without you!
Halloween Costumes
Students will be allowed to bring their costumes to school and will change for their classroom celebrations. Due to volunteers not being allowed in the building, it is important that your child can put on their costumes independently.
Just a reminder - your child's costume must be non-violent. Weapon accessories/scary masks will not be allowed. Also, due to allergies, students may NOT come to school with spray-painted hair.
Unfortunately, there will not be a costume parade this year.
Emergency Contact Information
It is extremely important to have up-to-date contact information available for each student. When emergencies arise, we need to be able to contact parents/guardians. This is also the contact information that is used for school closures and district updates.
Please log in to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal to check that your contact information is current and to make any necessary changes. Login information will be sent home with your child this week. If you need assistance or login information for the Parent Portal, please contact the Alamo Elementary Office. Thank You!
