Important Notes from the TREASURER

  • Efund Café payments turn off 5/27/16 and back on 8/1/16.
  • Efund Book fee payments--If you would like to pay any outstanding book fees over the summer please mail a check to FCI attn.: Michele Pitts.
  • If your child will attend a different school in the 2016-17 school, year you can only make book fee payments with a check to FCI. If you pay via efunds, in August the payment will be forwarded to the new school, and your account will not get credited for the 2015-16 payment.

Please take a moment and check your child’s fee statement balance in Skyward. All unpaid fees will be sent to Transworld Collections at the end of the school year, May 30, 2016. You may incur a processing fee of $17.80 once your account has been forwarded.

*****The final Skyward update will be approximately June 14th, 2016.

Yearbook Sales

If you did not pre-order a yearbook they will be on sale Monday, May 23rd @ 8:00am, in the office. They will be sold for $18.00-cash and exact change are required, and on a first come--first serve basis. Pre-ordered books will be given out this week by the classroom teacher, at their discretion.

iPad Rental Return Information


May 23rd – 5th grade

May 24 – 6th grade

  1. Charge the iPad to 100%
  2. Carefully remove the iPad from the case, wipe the iPad and the case with a clean soft cloth (please do not use any cleaners or liquids), then carefully put the iPad back into the case.
  3. Remove the passcode from the iPad (if one was set)
    1. Settings – Passcode – Enter the Passcode – Turn Passcode Off – Enter the Passcode again
  4. Remove any restrictions from the iPad (if restrictions were set)
    1. Settings – General – Restrictions – Enter Restrictions Passcode – Disable Restrictions – Enter Restrictions Passcode again
  5. Turn Off iCloud (if iCloud was signed in)
    1. Settings – iCloud – Tap Sign Out or Delete Account (depending on what iOS is on the iPad) at the bottom - Tap Delete from My iPad – Enter iCloud password – Tap Turn Off

Sample of fees that could be applied to student’s accounts:

  • Missing charging block/brick - $19/each
  • Missing charging cord - $19/each
  • Missing iPad case - $50
  • Cracked or severely scratch screen - $79
  • Other damage covered under insurance (i.e., broken headphone jack or loose video cable) - $79
  • Water damage to the iPad or other damage to iPad beyond repair - $379
  • Lost, missing, or unreturned iPad - $379

Thank you to everyone who volunteered for the PTO at Fall Creek Intermediate. The PTO Board really appreciates all the time and effort our volunteers gave to help out the school this year. We had a great year and the kids have enjoyed everything we offered them. Thank you so much and have a great summer.

Thank you for all the Staff Appreciation Week Donations!

It was a wonderful week at FCI! Thank you to all the parents that donated items/giftcards for our wonderful goodie bags, that Mrs. Cannon personalized for us. Special shout out to Dairy Queen (HTC) for the Dilly Bars, Chick-Fil-A (HTC) for the breakfast and sandwiches, and Jack's Donuts (Saxony) for the donuts and coffee. We are grateful for all you do for us. We have the best parents and PTO!

Calling all--- soon to be 7th Grade--- Runners

There will be a call out meeting for all students wanting to run Cross Country next fall. The meeting will be held on Tuesday May 24th from 5:30 - 6:30pm in the FCJH auditeria. All boys and girls should attend this meeting with a parent if you plan on running with us next year.

Also, if you are interested in running this summer, please stop by Mr. Jahn’s room to pickup a Camp Iwannarun information sheet.

Helping Your Child With Transition

It is very normal for children to worry about transitioning to a new grade or school. Some children will be affected by grade/school transitions more than others.

Whether your child is entering junior high, or just moving up another grade, preparing him/her is very helpful and important.

  1. Focus On The Positives: new friends, new teachers, and new opportunities
  2. Address Fears: listen to and validate your child’s fears, talk about fears you had at their age & how you handled it
  3. Attend School Events: take advantage of orientations, many include tours of the building, looking at lockers, getting class schedules
  4. Reach Out For Support: if your child is experiencing high levels of stress or anxiety about the upcoming transition, consult available resources (books, internet, family friends) or reach out to the school counselor and teacher

Fun Family Summer Ideas

Spending quality time with your child does not have to be expensive. Sometimes the most valuable things don’t cost any money at all:

  1. Take a walk or go for a bike ride around your neighborhood.
  2. Visit the art museum or the Indiana State Museum.
  3. Go to the park. Pack a picnic lunch and invite some friends!
  4. Go to the public library. They have great activities all summer long.
  5. Start a family book club. Read the same book as your child and discuss.
  6. Go for a hike at one of the state parks.
  7. Have your child keep a journal of their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Keep them in the habit of writing.
  8. Do a family community service project. Pick up litter, work at a food bank.
  9. Teach your child how to cook and bake.
  10. Write letters to friends and family.

6th Grade Talent Show

Got Talent ~ *singing *instrumental *drama skit *comedy *dance *juggling *????

STEP ONE: SIGN UP on Wednesday, April 27th!
  • Sign up on the 27th during your related arts time to get an audition time on May 10th.
  • On the 10th, you will perform for the judges.
STEP TWO: Audition on Tuesday, May 10th
  • 2:15 – 6:00 p.m. This is a closed audition in front of a panel of teachers/judges. Get your specific audition time on 4/27.
  • Check your calendar now for times you are available to audition on May 10th.
STEP THREE: The show is May 25th
  • Approximately 15 acts with the highest scores from audition night will be chosen to perform for the 6th grade on May 25th in the morning.
  • Dress rehearsal will be May 24th (perform for 5th grade in the afternoon)
  • Parents are invited to attend the show on the 25th!

End of Year Actvities

The end of the school is always exciting for our students and staff as special activities are planned. Here are the main events for the final week of school:

Monday, May 23rd-
  • iPad return day for grade five
  • 7:00-8:00 pm- Meeting for fifth grade parents regarding sixth grade band and orchestra for next school year

Tuesday, May 24-
  • iPad return day for grade six
  • 8:30 am DARE Graduation in gym
  • 1:30-2:30- Talent Show Dress Rehearsal for 5th graders to attend

Wednesday, May 25-
  • 8:30-9:30- Talent Show for 6th graders to attend
  • 12:00-2:15- 6th Grade End of Year Celebration on playground/fields
  • 12:45-2:15- 5th Grade End of Year Celebration-bus lot/kickball fields

Thursday, May 26-
  • 8:30- All School Video Celebration
  • Teams will hold awards events for their teams. There is no all-school awards program on this day. All-school awards will be given during these team events. Having these smaller, team events will allow more children to participate and receive awards from the school and from the team.

Campells Labels and Box Tops

The Labels For Education Program by Campbell's is coming to an end this summer. Please submit all of your Labels For Education by May 13th or as soon as possible.

The Box Tops Program is NOT ending. Please submit your Box Tops and continue collecting them over the summer.

State Park Passes @ the Library


With temperatures finally on the rise, thoughts are turning to the great outdoors and exploring all that Indiana has to offer. In honor of the state’s bicentennial, the Indiana State Library has now provided each library with a state park pass for loan to library cardholders.

When you are ready to hit the trail, simply stop by the Adult Services desk at either the Fishers or Noblesville Library and check for availability. Due to high demand, the passes will be available on a first come, first served basis, with no holds or renewals available. Passes can be checked out for up to 7 days.

Like other library materials, if passes are returned after the due date, late fees will apply. If passes are lost, a full replacement cost will be assessed.For further information, check out the library’s website at hepl.lib.in.us.

Immunization Requirements

Fifth Grade Parent/Guardian:

The Indiana State Department of Health requires additional immunizations for students in 6th grade. These requirements will apply to your current 5th grade student for the next school year. Even though your student is up to date for this school year, two additional vaccines are necessary for entry into 6th grade. Your child will be eligible for the immunizations when they are eleven years of age.

Completing these immunizations during the school year is your best option as physician’s offices and health departments are extremely busy during the summer months. The state required 6th grade immunizations are as follows:

· One meningococcal (MCV4) vaccine

· One Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) booster

The state requires the school to have documentation that every student entering 6th grade has received the state required vaccines prior to the start of school. After your child receives the required 6th grade vaccines, please send a copy of the updated immunization record to Fall Creek Intermediate.

Updated immunization records can be emailed, faxed, mailed, or hand delivered to Fall Creek Intermediate, Attention Jamie Weber/School Nurse. Please contact Jamie Weber/School Nurse at jweber@hse.k12.in.us with any questions or concerns.

Students Nominate a Teacher of the Month for Current Newspaper

Teacher of the Month-- Attention Hamilton County kids! Show your favorite teacher how much you appreciate them by entering Current newspaper's monthly Teacher of the Month contest. Submit a 100-word essay to teacher@youarecurrent.com explaining why you think your teacher is the best! The winning student essayist wins a class party and the winning teacher wins a prize. Open to all grades and ages. The next deadline for entries is June 15th.
