Weekly Staff Updates
Principal Notes for the Week of: 8/13-8/17
Please be sure to read your teacher handbooks, they are a guide for you all year long. I have placed all the pertinent documents in the handbook, along with placing many of the documents into the Google Docs Team Drive. Please pay close attention to the calendar, although I do weekly updates it is very important for you to put these dates in your calendar, along with your duty dates so that you know where you are suppose to be at all times.
All teachers are expected to be in the cafeteria eating with students for the first 9 days of school (Aug. 21st-Aug. 31st). I challenge each of you to set with a group of students at least two of those 9 days rather than with your peers. This is a great way to build relationships with students and it helps them to feel welcomed back by the staff (step out of your comfort zone. I will be doing the same).
Please be sure to go over the hour by hour expectations with student on August 21st during each of your classes. Dr. Dudley and I will be meeting with with the MS students on August 22nd during part of 7th hour/advisory time and HS students on August 23rd during part of 7th hour/advisory time. We will call the students down when we are ready for them. The meetings will be held in the gym.
There will be class meetings on Aug. 30th to help get information about election of class reps. November 12th will be the Veterans Assembly this school year. We typically have it on Friday but, it will be on a Monday this school year.
Reminder on Wednesday if you wear your "Wildcat Wednesday" shirts you can wear jeans. Everyone will need to pay $20.00 to wear jeans on Fridays. This Friday you will be able to wear them without paying. With Monday, August 27, 2018 being pay day, you will need to have your money paid by Friday, August 31st. Remember you can pay $10.00 for the first semester and $10.00 for the second or you can pay $20.00 for both. Either way please have your money in. We use this money to help support teachers in their time of need, new births, etc.
I appreciate the tough PLC conversations yesterday. We decided on making a cross-curricular MS and HS team of teachers. You all set goals yesterday with your teams. Remember as you meet in content areas on the designated PD days, you will take your cross-curricular team goal and embed it within your content area. When you all meet during our September faculty meeting you will need to begin working on the accountability side of the goals. How will you know everyone is reaching the goal? How will you collect data around the goal? How will show it is working or not working? etc. Please be thinking about this.
Thanks
