Preschool News

Message from Mrs. Kilday
I hope you had a great weekend. This seems like the perfect week to start our Spring theme! It is warming up and we will be outside more! We have a lot of hands on learning and exploration with this theme. If you are out buying spring gardening things and want to donate some seeds or potting soil(organic so there are no harmful chemicals) we would be so appreciative!
Than you for joining us for Parent Conferences last week. We hope you found your conversations with our staff informative. As always, if you have any questions for us about your child's development do not hesitate to reach out at anytime.
Great news! We made over $400 in the book fair and our CAPT has sold over 30 cookbooks!
Thank you for your continued support!
Sending wishes to all who are observing, may this Ramadan bring lots of happiness, prosperity, and togetherness for you and your family
Have a wonderful evening everyone.
Donna

COVID Update
The at-home testing option began January 31 (for students). In addition to this new at-home antigen test option, we continue with weekly Covid Safety Checks (Pooled Testing) and Symptomatic Testing as needed.
This new at-home testing opportunity is voluntary and only those who opt-in will receive tests. TO OPT-IN, please complete this STUDENT OPT-IN GOOGLE FORM. This is a one-time OPT-IN for the distribution of tests through April. If you do not want to opt-in, please complete the form and designate as such.
For those who would like to participate in our Covid Safety Checks (Pooled Testing) this is done every Tuesday and is a PCR test. You may bring your child to the Rodman anytime between 9am-10:30am if you wish to participate. You will find the link below to sign up if you have not already done so. Autism Acceptance
Did you know that 15% of our friends at the Rodman have an autism diagnosis? Children with autism sometimes have social communication challenges, they sometimes have restricted interests or repetitive behaviors and they sometimes have communication challenges. The CDC states the following additional characteristics can be included, sometimes:
- Delayed language skills
- Delayed movement skills
- Delayed cognitive or learning skills
- Hyperactive, impulsive, and/or inattentive behavior
- Epilepsy or seizure disorder
- Unusual eating and sleeping habits
- Gastrointestinal issues (for example, constipation)
- Unusual mood or emotional reactions
- Anxiety, stress, or excessive worry
- Lack of fear or more fear than expected
Note the word "sometimes" in our list. Each person/child with an autism diagnosis is a unique person with both strengths and challenges. However, the list can help you to see the complexities of the disorder. Understanding is the first step toward acceptance.
