ADMINISTRATION UPDATE
Dear CCS Families,
This week at CCS, we had several special events! First and foremost, it was Teacher Appreciation Week. Our teachers and support staff were definitely showered with a little extra appreciation throughout the week, thanks to coordinated efforts by the CVSD School Board, the McEnaney and Shattie families and our CCS PTO. The week culminated with a delicious teacher appreciation luncheon supported by many K-2 CCS families. Thank you!
On Monday morning, the Vermont Symphony Orchestra came to CCS and presented “Symphony Reel, a string trio” to grades K-4. Students heard a variety of songs from different cultures and countries and learned about the various instruments played by our visiting string trio.
Also on Monday, we held our annual Arbor Day Celebration, which was postponed due to the forecast last Friday. Horsford Gardens and Nursery provided a beautiful sycamore tree, which was planted on the southwest corner of our preschool playground. Opening remarks were shared by Horsford’s own, Charlie Proutt and Charlotte Tree Warden, Mark Dillenbeck. Several K-4 classes shared poetry, songs, book talks and artwork related to Arbor Day.
On Wednesday, our Small Ensembles musicians traveled down the road to the Charlotte Senior Center to share their music with our community. Next Monday, May 14th, our Stage Band will be performing at the CVSD Jazz Festival at CVU at 7:00 p.m., which will be a great preview for their performance on the City Hall Stage on Church St. in Burlington from 11:30 - 12:30 on June 5th.
As you will see, the list of upcoming events is quite long as we approach our final weeks of school. While these special events allow us to highlight the amazing contributions our students make to our local and broader communities, their regular school days also continue to make us proud!
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Warm Regards,
Stephanie, Jen and Cassandra

Since forming these girls have competed at international levels, won numerous awards, performed widely, and help lead several local and nation initiatives.
CCS EPILEPSY AWARENESS NIGHT
CCS is partnering with Changing Perspectives, ” a Vermont-based, educational nonprofit organization with a mission of engaging students in open dialogue and real-world experiences to promote disability awareness and help kids develop their natural empathy for others.”
As a part of the disability awareness curriculum focus, Audrey Butler from the Epilepsy Foundation of Vermont, will be sharing information about epilepsy. 1 in 26 people will develop epilepsy in their lifetime, so chances are there are students at CCS with epilepsy. Your child may witness a seizure at school, or in the greater community, which may scare them, or raise questions. Come join other parents and community members in learning more about epilepsy and how to support your child in talking about differences in others and how to be allies for their peers.
This event will be May 17th in the CCS Library beginning at 7:00 p.m., immediately following the presentation by Muslim Girls Making Change.
Childcare and refreshments will be available.
