Our Weekly Learning Goals

What we are discovering in our learning this week...

Math:

Monday: No School

Tuesday: No Math due to 2 hour delay

Wednesday: Children write a two-step number story to fit a number sentence. Children analyze others' number stories and revise their work.

Thursday: Children use the order of operations to solve multistep problems.

Friday: Students will represent fractions on a number line, recognize and generate simple equivalent fractions, express whole numbers as fractions, and compare two fractions with the same denominator using the symbols greater than, less than, and equal to.

Reading:


  • Monday: No School
  • Tuesday: Learn how to use comparisons to better understand what an author is explain to us about the topic of the text.


  • Wednesday:

    Look at learning progression about inferencing

    Write a goal as we head into the second bend.


  • Thursday:

    Create a story mountain in their reader’s notebook and mark it with the events leading to the climax, the climax and the resolution, and Independently complete part 4 of the focus lesson 19.

  • Grammar:

    D.1.1.1 Explain the function of nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs in general and their functions in particular sentences.



  • Identify and correctly use the correct verb tenses.

  • Identify, define, and use correct comparative, and superlative adjectives.

  • Friday: Learn how to use comparisons to better understand what an author is explain to us about the topic of the text.

Writing

Monday: No school

Tuesday: To use the glove narrative writing prompt strategy with greater independence when writing a narrative story based on a picture prompt.

  • Wednesday: You’ll teach students that writers check their work and plan for future projects.

    Thursday: You’ll teach students that writers rely on each other and themselves to independently plan not only their stories but their writing processes.

  • Friday:You’ll teach students that writers make fairy tales sound like fairy tales by using special language-in this case by adding refrains.

  • Social Studies:

    • Wednesday: identify and describe characteristics of the layers of the earth. Define what tectonic plates, and identify/describe the various types tectonic plate moment. Explain the effects of each type of movement on earth's crust.
    • Thursday: Identify and describe characteristics of the layers of the earth. Define what tectonic plates, and identify/describe the various types tectonic plate moment. Explain the effects of each type of movement on earth's crust.
