Hallinan Elementary
Hawk Squawk 3/4/21
Principal's Message
How long have I been waiting for tomorrow?? A LONG time! Tomorrow marks the day when all grades of In-Person are finally back at Hallinan. You'll see me once again, in my red sparkly sneakers, greeting all of our students as they arrive. 4th and 5th graders, we are all so excited to have you back! Online students, know that we miss you - please, please join us for HAL Hangouts on Friday 3/12. Grades K-2 will meet from 11:15 to 11:45 am and grades 3-5 will meet from 11:45 am to 12:15 pm. Invitations will be sent next week.
A few Arrival & Dismissal reminders, for everyone's safety:
- Do not park your car in the school parking lot, all drop-off must be done via the car line
- Students exiting or entering cars in the car line must enter or exit from the passenger/curbside. Students may not enter or exit from the driver/street side
- To expedite dismissal, please place a large sign with your student's full name on it, in the front window, on the passenger side.
- Due to teacher contractual obligations, students will stay in cars or buses, and walkers will stand socially distanced on the sidewalk, (use the blue stars as guiding markers) until 8 am and 12:45 pm, when the building opens.
- Walkers will meet their family/guardian undercover by the playground. Using the stars on the ground, please stay socially distant and your students will come to you.
The recent beautiful weather has brought lots of families to the Hallinan playground and we are happy everyone is enjoying it. Please be mindful that masks are mandatory on school premises, even outdoors, when you are not able to keep 6 feet apart from others. Now that we have students in our schools, we need to follow our regular rules that playgrounds are closed during school hours (7:45 am - 4 pm). Thank you for your cooperation.
I've included a couple arrival and dismissal photos below. Luka and Iker Granada are in the first photo. Even with masks on, and standing in the background, I think you can see how excited Counselor Brittany Erspamer and I are to greet them. And, Raleigh Gordon is in the second photo, with perfect placement of her name in the car windows for pick up.
Be well,
Melissa Griffiths

Lake Oswego Schools Foundation prospective board member application:
Bias and Racial Incident Reporting Form and Information
On November 16, 2020, the LOSD School Board approved the ALL Students Belong Policy which prohibits the display of hate symbols and the use of hate speech in our school community. This is another step forward in our efforts of becoming an anti-bias and anti-racist organization and living up to the District’s core values of equity and inclusion. The All Students Belong Policy makes it clear that hate will not be tolerated nor accepted in our schools. We encourage students to stand against hate by interrupting and reporting any bias and/or racist incident that they witness or personally experience.
We want LOSD schools to be a safe, welcoming, and loving space where all students have the opportunity to be themselves and thrive socially and academically. If you have witnessed or experienced any harm directed to any student, teacher, or staff member based on perceived or actual identity, you can report to your administrator, a trusted staff member, by using the new elementary Incident Report or anonymously to SafeOregon.
