Brandon Stanton: 2016 Cronkite Award
Walter Cronkite served as the Chairman of Reach the World’s founding Advisory Board. Mr. Cronkite was not only one of the world’s leading journalists, but also a great explorer. Each year, RTW gives the Cronkite Award in his memory to an individual whose life and work exemplifies this intersection between exploration and storytelling.
Humans of New York began in 2010 when photographer Brandon Stanton began crisscrossing the city to capture New Yorkers and their stories. His vibrant blog now provides a worldwide audience of 16 million+ followers with glimpses into the lives of strangers in New York City and abroad. It has also become a #1 NYT bestselling book.
Every day, Reach the World’s travelers capture human stories around the globe for a youth audience. RTW is proud to recognize Brandon and HONY with the 2016 Cronkite Award.
Connect Classrooms to Travelers
Reach the World makes the benefits of travel accessible to classrooms, inspiring students to become curious, confident global citizens. Enabled by our digital platform, classrooms and college student travelers explore the world together. RTW gives students critical global experiences and perspectives; and helps them begin to establish aspirations that enhance their prospects in today’s globalized workforce.
Reach the World is a key partner of the national Generation Study Abroad campaign to double the number of U.S. students studying abroad by 2020. Proceeds from the 2016 Annual Benefit will help RTW to expand its operations to become a nationwide resource connecting K-12 classrooms to study-abroad travelers.
