Principal's Message

School campus has been open for 3 weeks now. Hearing the students excited chatter and laughter are the best sounds a principal can hear. Every day, as I greet the students and see others on Zoom, I realize how much I missed every single one of them.

We had a successful transition back to school campus. Students are in class ready to begin instruction at their designated times. The lines to check in have been moving pretty fast; this is in big part to all the parents who take the time in the morning to get the daily pass. I know this adds extra time to your morning routine but it really helps us at school to quickly check in students. THANK YOU!

Students have adapted to the new school safety protocols. The restroom procedures are working very well -- the restroom tags are great visuals for students. Our students are respectful and patient when they have to wait to use the restroom. All the signage on the walls and floor have also helped our students and staff maintain the social distance.

Our students have done very well with keeping their masks on at all times. The district has provided microphones and amplifiers to all teachers so that students can hear them talking over the masks.

I want to thank all of our school parents for helping our students understand the safety protocols. I know you have talked to your children about these things because the students are very well aware of them and follow them with great ease. This is much appreciated!

Anti-Bias/Anti-Racism Education

Big picture
What are your beliefs about race? How has race impacted your life? These are questions that perhaps we have not thought much about. In our seminars with Dr. Watson, we spend time reflecting and discussing these questions. It might seem intimidating to talk about our own beliefs about race, but Dr. Watson creates a safe environment for us to share our thoughts. Knowing how race has impacted my life and understanding by beliefs about race, help me have honest conversations with my own children about race. My boys are teenagers but I want them to become adults who are racially conscious. Having conversations about race and how race affects how they are seen in the world is important. It is also important for them to be confident in challenging systemic racism. I know this is also important for many of you, so I invite you to join us for our last 3 seminars with Dr. Watson on May 12, May 25, and June 8. All our meetings run from 6:00-7:30 pm.
