SFCS celebrates 26 Years of Growing Together in Faith & Knowledge
Dear SFCS Parents & Friends,
Happy Monday!
We had many opportunities to practice our virtue of "patience" this past week with the stream of unexpected inconveniences we faced at school. From the news in Nashville, to the power outage, followed by the fire alarm going off, we prayed for patience and peace throughout the week. With the short week ahead of us, we will continue to pray for smooth sailing as we prepare for the Holy Days leading to Easter Sunday. Since this week is a shortened one, our virtue of "patience" will continue to be the focus.
Wednesday is Grandparents'/Grandfriends Day. It is also an early dismissal day for students. An email outlining the protocol for this special day was sent yesterday. Please read the information carefully and let us know if you have any questions. We are looking forward to welcoming our students' grandparents and/or grandfriends.
There will be a special Howl sent on Wednesday. This will be a Lenten edition. It is important for you to see the journey of our students while at school, during the season of Lent. It has been a beautiful season which has been highlighted in the hallways, in the classrooms, and on the faces of our students.
I hope everyone has a safe and relaxing spring break. I know our students, faculty, and staff have been working hard this quarter. Everyone is ready for this much needed upcoming break.
Please note that the School Family Mass originally scheduled for Sunday, April 16, has been cancelled due to spring break. We will have only one School Family Mass remaining in this school year, which is scheduled for Sunday, May 21.
Finally, there will be an important FSA meeting on Tuesday, April 18 at 8:15 a.m., which is the day after we get back from spring break. We hope to see you there!
Wishing you the most blessed of Holy Days ahead. Happy Easter to all!
Blessings,
Andrea

March Madness "24" Tournament
March Madness 24 Tournament for grades 5th-8th. "24" is a game where a group of students are given a card with numbers on it and they must figure out how to add, subtract, multiply, or divide the numbers to get 24. Brackets are set up similar mimicking March Madness basketball. Congratulations to our "24" School Champion for 2023.... Michael B. (7th grade)!
3Q Awards Assembly
On Friday, SFCS celebrated the 3Q achievements in both academics and athletics. Special thanks to the Ancient Order of the Hibernians, who awarded a St. Patrick's medal to Vivienne W. (1st grade) and the St. Patrick statue to Jack S. (5th grade). Many athletes were also recognized for their participation in winter sports. Congratulations to all the students recognized!

PIZZA AND ICE CREAM PARTIES!
The Pre-K class and the 5th grade class enjoyed a pizza and ice cream party during lunch on Friday! Both classes celebrated with their treats which were made possible by donors purchasing the party packages during the live auction at the SFCS Gala - Sapphire Ball 2023. Thank you for supporting our fabulous school! The students had a blast. 💙🤍💛
Coach Weaver Finishes in 2nd Place in the Pulseology Golden Egg 5K
On Saturday morning, Coach Weaver ran in the Pulseology Golden Egg 5K race and to his surprise, came in 2nd place in his age division! With so many kids apprehensive about running, Coach Weaver leads by example and shares with the SFCS students his journey with running. Today and tomorrow are the Mile Time Trials in all of our PE classes. The students have been "training" for this run for a couple of weeks. The goal is for students to beat their individual mile times from October, since they are now six months bigger, faster, and stronger! Congratulations to Coach Weaver, and good luck to our students as they try to beat their time.
St. Francis Catholic School Facebook Page
Our official Facebook page is "St. Francis Catholic School". In an effort to consolidate communication, and have one central Facebook page for SFCS families to find announcements and learn about upcoming school events, the "St. Francis Families (St. Francis Catholic School, Hilton Head Island)" Facebook page is now inactive. As a reminder, the use of St. Francis Catholic School, or St. Francis by the Sea names, logos, etc., must be approved before associating any group with either name or SFCS. We appreciate your cooperation and partnership with this important policy and ask you to contact Mrs. Smith for school related requests, and the SFBTS Parish office for church related requests. Please join our school Facebook page! (scroll down to the bottom of the newsletter and click on link)
