Save $um School Banking Program begins on Sept. 29
We are currently taking applications for new fourth grade tellers. Pictured to the right are Pleasant Street alumni and former tellers who are now in 6th grade (already!).
On banking day, the student tellers, working in pairs, count the money in the deposits and record the transactions. The purpose of the Save$um Banking Program is to teach students the importance of systematic savings. As an incentive to encourage the students to save, Athol Savings Bank donates $2 to every student account opened and an additional $5 after 25 deposits are made. At the end of each school year the student tellers attend a fantastic field trip sponsored by the Athol Savings Bank. Over the years the students have visited places like Patriot’s Place and Fenway Park.

Mad Science afterschool program begins in October
Dear Parents/Guardians of 3rd and 4th Graders:
Good news! We are pleased to be able to offer a ten week afterschool Mad Science® program funded by our Title One grant! This free program will be held on Thursdays from 3:15 to 4:15 pm beginning on October 8th and continuing until December 17, 2015. Enrollment is limited to 20 students. We will be accepting applications for this program through Wed. Sept. 23, 2015. If we have more than 20 students who want to participate we will draw names from a lottery of complete applications that are received by the deadline. Additionally, we are able to provide limited transportation for students who would not otherwise be able to take advantage of this opportunity.
A flyer and application form was sent home with all third and fourth graders on Sept. 15th.
