Online Learning--Open Your Digital Backpack!
Students should also check their school email, Canvas account, or Google Classroom (however teachers have said they are communicating with their students) daily for updates. Every student has a school email account. The email address is the student's username that they use at school (first initial, last name, numbers) followed by @madison.k12.al.us. The password is the same password students use to access computers and other accounts at school.
Teachers & Students Connect Virtually
While learning continues at HGHS, relationships continue as well! Teachers are meeting with students virtually and are able to see their faces and hear their voices. Teachers also have virtual office hours each week and are continuing to assist students with their learning. Pictured here are the basketball cheerleaders meeting with Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Frasier through Google Meet. They enjoyed catching up with one another. While we would rather see our students in person, we are so thankful for technology that allows us to stay connected during this unprecedented time.
HGHS Graduation Date Announced
We are excited to celebrate the Class of 2020 with a graduation ceremony on July 15, 2020, at 5 p.m. in the VBC Arena. Graduation rehearsal for seniors will be July 15th from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the VBC Arena.
Mr. & Miss Hazel Green
Congratulations to Colin Baeder and Rebecca Cole! Colin was voted Mr. Hazel Green, and Rebecca was voted Miss Hazel Green. These two students are top notch--outstanding all the way around! We are so proud of them and are glad to see them chosen to represent the Class of 2020 and our entire school as Mr. and Miss Hazel Green!

Medical Academy Donates PPE
The HGHS Medical Academy donated PPE to local healthcare facilities this week. Mrs. Thomson and Mrs. Frazier are pictured with local healthcare workers. These teachers feel blessed to be able to give back to our community during this time.
Work Goes On for Work-Based Learning Students
Even though student's Work-Based Learning experiences have officially ended as an official credit-based activity through the school, most students in Mr. Livermore's Work-Based Learning classes are still working either at their same jobs or have transitioned to new employers. Mr. Livermore reports that over 80% of his students are currently employed, and some are moving to full time. While retail and culinary jobs have reduced hours and experienced layoffs, healthcare, grocery, and home improvement employers have seen more hiring.
