Genital warts, caused by the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), occur around the anus and on the penis, vagina, vulva, cervix and rarely orally. These warts, spread by sexual contact, are often flat, tiny and difficult to spot and diagnose. You get these warts from having sex with somebody who also had an STD.

The best way to prevent genital warts is TO BE ABSTINENT.

Another way, is to wear protection, such as condoms. "Safer sex" includes inquiring about the type of sexual practice and history of previous STD's of your sexual partner.

There is no specific treatment for warts, however, your doctor may give you the best way to treat isn't based on your history. One way is to freeze it, that may be able to take the warts away. Another way is to use Podophyllin, a natural extract of plants.
