While I would have loved to have a few more days to sleep in, I am excited to usher in a new term and to move forward with our amazing school year!
As Always, December is a busy time of year for us in the music program, please take a moment to check out the awesome events headed our way!

CONCERT DAY ITINERARY FOR STUDENTS:
Call Time & Dress Rehearsal on Stage: 4:30pm
Dinner: 6:00pm ***Costco Pizza & Salad***
Pre-Concert Talk: 6:45 in music room
Concert Downbeat: 7:00pm
- No food or drinks are permitted in the PAC (excepting water in a sealable container).
- Do Not touch any curtains or equipment other than chairs/stands.
- When sitting in the audience, do not rest feet on chairs or stage edge. Do not climb over rails or seats.
- String Students: Do not apply Rosin inside the PAC. Please do so in the music room or outside.
- Winds: Be sure to use a cloth to catch your "condensation" if applicable.

The Silent Auction: What to Expect
What is a Silent Auction?
Silent auctions are auctions held without an auctioneer. People place their bids on sheets of paper instead. They're often used by charities to raise money, but they can be tricky to put together. With good planning (and wonderful volunteers such as ours), it can be quite the successful fundraiser!
How do I bid?
Because silent auctions are held without an auctioneer, bids are written on a sheet of paper that is commonly placed before or next to the item. At the predetermined end of the auction, the highest listed bidder wins the item. This auction is often used in charity events, with many items auctioned simultaneously and "closed" at a common finish time. Our Auction's bidding will close and the conclusion of our Intermission.
How do I pay when I win?
Between the closing few numbers of the concert, our winners will be announced.
Immediately following the conclusion of the Winter Concert, our wonderful volunteers will be waiting for you in the lobby to receive payments for winning items and grab and go gift cards. You can pay most easily with cash, or electronically online via an ASB Webstore "ASK" labeled SCHS Music Silent Auction.
***If you will be paying electronically, it will expedite the process if you already have an account through the ASB Webstore. If you had one last year but have not recreated one this year, you will need to do so.
Barnes & Noble Gift Wrapping Fundraiser!
Wrappers: Should be proficient in wrapping and/or trained prior to event - i.e. sharp, clean edges with minimal tape usage and straight cut edges and folds; tight ribbons and bows. Tips are dependent on this!
Assistants: organize crowds, checks receipts while they wait in line for wrapping, asks choice or wrapping, can cut appropriate-sized wrapping paper ready for the next available wrapper - basically helps move things along when there is a wrapping line. This person can also assist with handing out gift tags and pens. Assistant does not have to be proficient in wrapping just be willing to communicate politely and clearly with the public.
Greeters: cheerfully greet customers at the door or standing in line to pay and inform of free gift wrapping services offered by Sage Creek HS Music.
Entertainers: i.e. Jazz Combo, Drumline, Christmas Chamber Groups set up to play outside B&N to draw customers in.

Sage Creek Foundation Arts Liaison NEEDED!
Now that the year is underway, we can begin to prepare for an eventful season in Theatre, Music, Dance, Photography, 3D Design, Arts 1, 2, 3 and AP Art History.
With our concerts, performances, visual arts shows and community outreach, we are looking for a few parents to help support us alongside the Sage Creek Foundation. Our hope is for these parent leaders to meet with teachers and members of the Foundation once a month.
We are looking for any parent with experience in organizing, event planning, decorating, fundraising and leadership. We are requesting about 4 hours of your time a month with any of these roles and can discuss VAPA parent support committee groups in greater detail in December when the committee is formed. These parents would act as Arts Liaisons for the Sage Creek Foundation and our VAPA team.
FYI: While committee members don't all have to be music parents, it would be great to have music represented. We will be diving into the Festival of the Arts very soon!

Trombone Christmas!!! Saturday, December 14
The Anaheim event will be on Saturday, December 14, 2019
The All Western Trombone Christmas Concert is given to promote and encourage the fellowship and musicianship of slide trombone players through the performance of Christmas music. Thanks to all who participated last year, it was a great success! Be sure to tell your friends and join us for this year's Trombone Christmas.
