Hello OUSD Families and Class of 2023,
It is our goal to get all of our families to complete the FAFSA or California Dream Act application prior to the deadline. We want to provide you here with a great resource that can assist you with FAFSA completion. I will send out additional information regarding FAFSA completion support offering that will take place soon.

How to Get Your Teen Reading
How to Help Teens Find Purpose
Spending time in the natural world, getting involved in a meaningful social change project, and establishing a contemplative practice are some common experiences found among people who have discovered their purpose.
How can parents help teens seek these experiences?
1. Spend time in nature and go on walks around the neighborhood, at your local park, or down by the beach with your teen.
2. Seek out ways to give back to the community alongside your teen or encourage your teen to find opportunities to get involved with causes that matter most to them.
3. Take time at home to model contemplative practices, such as: meditation, mindfulness, practicing gratitude, or yoga.
Finally, as Cook-Deegan notes, "It is good to remember as a parent: you cannot give your child or anyone else their own sense of purpose. But what you can do is them them the experiences to help discover their own sense of purpose. You never know how these experiences will shape them down the road."
Good Things!
