What are we up to (After Spring Break)?

Reading: We will learn about common and proper nouns. Students will need to know that a noun is a person, place, thing, or idea. They will also need to know the difference between a common and proper noun. (Ex: common noun - teacher & proper noun - Mrs. Copeland)


  • 2nd Grade Language Arts - Nouns (D.1, D.2, D.3)

Math: Money Unit - Students will need to know the following:
- the name and value of all the coins
- count various coin amounts
- different ways to make an amount in coins
- solve word problems involving coin amounts

  • Struggling: 2nd Grade Math - Money (P.1, P.2, P.3)
  • On Grade Level: 2nd Grade Math - Money (P.4, P.6, P.7, P.9, P.10, P.11, P.12, P.13, P.14)
  • Challenge: 2nd Grade Math - Money (P.5, P.8, P.15, P.16, P.17, P.18, P.19, P.20)

Social Studies:
Goods and Services
We will look at the basics of supply and demand, bartering vs. trading, wants and needs, and the difference between goods and services
  • March 30 - April 3 - Spring Break
  • Monday, April 6 - Snow Make-up Day
  • April 10 will be the last day for the 21st Century program.
  • April 10 - Mother/Son Kickball (see event below)
  • April 15 - Walk to School Day & Report Cards go home
  • April 22 - Late Start & FUN RUN (K/1: 10:30, 2/3: 11:30, 4/5: 12:30)
  • April 25 - Relay For Life t-shit money due (not required)


  • May 1 - Zoo Field Trip Money Due ($16)
  • May 5 - Bond Referendum Vote
  • May 14 - Zoo Field Trip (Please contact me if you would like to chaperone!)
  • May 16 - IHES Relay for Life Walk (see event below)
  • May 21 - Evening of the Arts (5:30-7:30pm) - See event details below

Collection Envelopes will come home with students on Friday, March 20 after the Pep Rally.

First Collection Day is Thursday, March 26.

Relay for Life

This year IHES faculty and staff are participating in York County's Relay for Life to benefit the American Cancer Society. In an effort to raise money, we are opening up the sale of our team shirts to our IHES families. Attached is the order form. ALL orders are due to Mrs. C by April 24th.
