Monkey Business
This week, I thoroughly enjoyed our peer to peer observations of literacy instruction. It was a great way for us to celebrate the fabulous instruction that happens at AES every single day. It also served as a great reminder of our movement away from instruction that did not meet the needs of 21st century learners. I know that this road has not been easy, but I believe we are gaining momentum which makes a long tough journey easier to navigate. The momentum, changes, and just all around outstanding instruction is a direct result of your relentless efforts. No other school staff could have made the sweeping changes in literacy (and math by the way) in the manner and short amount of time that you have.
I'm glad we were able to not get trapped by our own inability to let go. We have by no means arrived at our destination, but I do believe we are in a great spot to reflect and celebrate. I am truly blessed to work alongside so many outstanding individuals who care deeply about kids and making a difference in their lives. Thank you again for giving so much of yourself for our students.
