K-2 Meet & Greet
Hawthorne families are invited to a Meet and Greet on Thursday, August 31st. The Meet and Greet is an opportunity for you and your child to stop by to visit the classroom, meet the teachers and say hello to some new friends.
Additional parking is available at Holy Rosary. You can proceed through the back gate of Holy Rosary, cross Chateau Lane and enter through the Hawthorne gate. When you arrive at Hawthorne, please have your photo identification out and ready for the check-in process.

Kindergarten: 8:30-9:15 a.m.
Grade 2: 9:15-10:00 a.m.
Grade 1: 10:00-10:45 a.m.
Kindergarten teachers will provide students with wristbands at the Meet and Greet. Please be sure to have your kindergarten student wear the wristbands for the first week of school.
If you ordered school supplies through AHartz, they will be delivered to the classroom. If you did not order through AHartz, you may drop the supplies off with the teacher during the Meet and Greet, or send them to school on the
School Dismissal Manager
School Dismissal Manager is the system that we use for reporting absences and communicating your child’s daily dismissal. Prior to September 5th you will need to log in to School Dismissal Manager and set up your child’s plan for dismissal. Please see the School Dismissal Manager Step-by-Step Set Up instructions for more information. If you do not receive your login information by August 29th, please contact Christine Gianfrancesco at 914 769-8536 x 4502.
First Day of School Reminders
We are so excited for the first day of school!
As a reminder, Kindergarten will begin one hour later on the first day. The morning buses for kindergarten students will run one hour later on the first day of school. If you are driving your kindergarten student to school, drop off will be between 8:50 a.m.- 9:10 a.m. at the Brighton Avenue entrance.
Please make sure you have done the following prior to the first day:
1. Read through the Parent Information 23-24 prior to September 5th. It contains important information about school procedures.
2. Make sure that Ms. Ciliberti has any necessary medications for your child. You can reach her via email at lciliberti@mtplcsd.org and call her at 914 769-8535.
3. Hawthorne is a nut-free school. Please send your child to school with a healthy nut-free snack. You may send your child to school with lunch or they can purchase lunch in the cafeteria.
4. Send your child to school wearing sneakers as our students have Physical Education classes every day.
5. Set up your child's dismissal instructions in School Dismissal Manager. Complete your child's bus tag and attach it to their backpack.
Parent Back to School Night September 7th
Thursday, September 7th is our Parent Back to School Night. This is an opportunity for you to receive important information about your child’s academic program and daily routine. The schedule is as follows:
First Grade Parents: 6:00-6:45 Classroom presentation
Kindergarten Parents: 6:15-6:45 Family Literacy presentation in the gymnasium
6:45-7:30 Classroom presentation
Second Grade Parents: 7:30-8:15 Classroom presentation
Please visit our Encore Specialists between 6:45-7:45 p.m. They are located in the following areas:
Library Media: Ms. MacCullough – Library
STEM: Ms. Aboulenein – Multi-Purpose Room
Performing Arts: Ms. Rao – Room 207
Visual Arts: Ms. Mancini – Room 203
