Bloomington Elementary School
18 September 2023, Vol II, Issue 04
Greetings Parents and Families,
The process of morning drop off and afternoon dismissal has been running smoothly and efficiently. We thank you for your support and cooperation.
Throughout the week of September 18th, the entire school district will conduct a series of safety drills. We are all doing them during the same week so parents are aware of what's happening and not raise any unnecessary stress. Here is a complete explanation of the schedule during BISD Safety Week 2023.
Grandparent's Day
A big thank you to all our grandparents who came out for our Grandparent's Day celebration. It was a real treat to see so many smiling faces and busy students. What a surprise to see how many grandparents were happily coloring and creating blooming masterpieces.
We look forward to having you join us again for Thanksgiving and other family events.
Student Needs
Refillable Water Bottles
Please remember that plain water is the only drink that students are permitted to have during the school day. Please consider sending your student with a refillable water bottle. We have water dispensers on campus that provide purified water on the spot for students. Refillable bottles help us ensure that students stay hydrated, and these bottles help avoid spills in the classroom. Thanks for your support!!
Snack Time
We need your assistance with a small, but important matter concerning student snacks. Please avoid sending students with large bags of chips. We run into problems with students overeating spicy or high calorie foods during school which becomes a distraction for lessons and learning. Additionally, with the return of COVID cases, we need to enforce the no sharing of food and drink rule on campus. Thank you for your support and assistance.
Patriot Day
We want to thank all parents and families for supporting our campus on Patriot Day, September 11th. Having so many students dressed in red, white and blue was a fantastic tribute to our first responders, and victims and fallen heroes.
Calendars
Starting Friday, September 01, 2023, Bloomington ISD will start an alternating pattern of no school for students on Fridays and Early Release Fridays. Here is the calendar!
If you come to eat lunch with your child, please remember your photo identification. BISD policy requires that all campus visitors are required to be screened by using the Raptor system. Class lunch times are as follows:
Monday--Thursday
10:30--Second Grade
11:05--Fourth Grade
11:40--Third Grade
12:15--Fifth Grade
Early Release Fridays
9:50-10:20--Second Grade
10:25-10:55--Fourth Grade
11:00-11:30--Third Grade
11:35-12:05--Fifth Grade
Birthdays
Parents are allowed to bring treats to the class for a student's birthday. You can drop these items off at the front office anytime of day. The office will deliver items to the classroom during break times so that learning schedules are uninterrupted.
Teachers will ensure that treats and drinks are distributed to all students at the end of the day. This is typically around 2:30 or 2:45 pm.
Book Fair
We are delighted to report that our first book fair of the school year was an absolute success. Thank you to all parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles who came out to browse and shop with the students. All profits will be used to purchase new library books, and sponsor library activities.
Here is a link to a ton of resources and free giveaways if you have a library card.
Free food, snacks and admissions with a library card.
