Readers Needed in Kindergarten
Have 10 minutes? Need a break from a stressful day?
READERS NEEDED IN KINDERGARTEN
Readers are needed in Kindergarten
We are calling on you all to help our Kindergarten readers make-up their Reading Steps. Have 10 minutes? Need a break from a stressful day? Come on down to the kindergarten hallway! Each teacher has Catch-up bottles on their doors. Simply pull one or two names, ask for the students and read them a book. There is a book basket with books to read, or you can bring your own. Once you finish, place a check or a smiley face on a space on the student’s card, and send them back to class.
Thank you to all the teachers and staff that have come to read with our Kindergarten students!! Shout out to Coach Jager for spending time reading!!
Hot Potato --Questioning Strategy
This activity encourages students to develop higher-level questions. Not only do they have to come up with the question, they also need to know the answer. This puts some of the responsibility of learning on the students, and they take more pride and ownership in the process. Students gain a deeper understanding if they formulate the question and determine the answer, rather than just answering teacher-generated questions.
1. Select a Discovery Education video resource pertinent to the unit of instruction.
2. Have students watch, look at, or read the resource, as a class or in small groups.
3. Divide the class into 2 teams.
4. Students have 5 minutes to create questions pertaining to the video. The higher-level the questions they have, the more points their team can earn. (Have them use the questioning chart to help develop higher-level questions.)
5. Have students sit on their desks.
6. Instruct them to have a team member throw the soft ball to the opposing team as he or she asks the question and states the question level.
7. The student who catches the ball either answers or uses a lifeline (asks a buddy). The student who threw the ball determines whether the response was adequate. (The teacher may need to weigh in.)
8. The Referee decides whether the level of the question met the requirements and how many points to award.
9. The student who answered the question now tosses the ball to the opposing team and asks a question.
10. After 10-15 minutes, the teacher can wrap it up and do a general clarification and discussion.

Beaver Toyota Offer for Teachers
Dear Mrs. Carla Gravitt and Mashburn Elementary Educators,
We recognize the sacrifices educators make for our children every day. So, we were thinking…how can we help you? How can we make life a little easier, reduce the number of items on your to-do list, save you money and decrease your stress level?
How about we come down and pick up your vehicle for your routine car maintenance while you work and delivery it back to you before the day ends? Easy! Pick any Wednesday or Thursday of the week, call us at 470-533-2030 and schedule your next appointment. Tell us you are from Mashburn Elementary, the day/time to pick up your vehicle and what you need done (oil service, check brakes, replace the windshield blades, etc.).
This program is open to all makes and models of vehicles. Simply give us 1-business day notice for any non-Toyota vehicle in order to order your auto’s proper filters or parts. Done and Done.
We also want you to know all teachers get special pricing at Beaver Toyota of Cumming. We show our support to hard-working teachers by offering a $750 Educators Appreciation Discount. We take $500 off the purchase price of a new Toyota model then donate $250 to the teacher’s classroom. And if you aren’t a classroom teacher, we’ll still discount the new vehicle by $500 and donate $250 to a classroom that you pick. It’s just another way that Beaver Toyota performs random acts of WOW for our neighbors.
Sincerely,
Derek Mugge
Service Director

Countywide Share Drive
Countywide Share Drive:
In an effort to provide everyone with some Note resources and templates to use on your panels, the technology department has created a countywide share drive. You will find the drive in your list of network drives when you open File Explorer. It is named ClearTouchNotes (P:). Once you open it, you will find folders for Elementary, Middle, and High. While you can access the files on this drive, you cannot save to this drive. You must save a copy of the files to your own H drive or other drive location. If you have any questions about the drive, please let me know!
