Dear Parents and friends of our School Kia Ora/Hola/Bora Da/Konichi Wa/Hello

Wow - what a great response from parents. This is awesome. It means we can create a greater link between home and school and you can see what is happenning in your child's classroom and with your child's learning.

The school pays a subscription for this programme, and it is expected that all parents will upload the app onto their devices. The code, to access your child's account can be used up to 10 family members only.

Information has been sent home from your child's classroom teacher to get you up and running and you will need to do this promptly because the codes you will be given expire after a short time. If you have misplaced this piece of paper, or struggling to get it loaded, please speak to your childs teacher and they can print you out another.

These lessons, taken by Claudia Bluett, are on Tuesdays. If you would like your child to learn piano, please contact the school office. There are only a few spaces left

Please make sure that your children’s towels, togs and goggles are named. We will be providing a swimming coach, three times a week for six weeks to work with groups of children from Year 1 – 6. This begins this week. Flyers Swim School will be providing the lessons. As a school we follow the New Zealand Swim Safe programme. The children work through a module skills system that is supported by teacher notes. Each child in our school receives, on entry, a swimming certificate to track progress across the school. This is kept by the teacher in a clear file and moves with the child as they move through the school. Lessons still go ahead, even if it is raining.

If your child has a set of headphones at home and you are happy for them to bring them to school please do so. We have 5 headsets per class but find we are using these more and more with our new devices and the introduction of BYOD. If your child brings a headset to school please make sure it is named. It is kept in their own bookbox, and is for their own personal use.

We would really like to see every child at school with a named drink bottle. We will be encouraging staff and students to be drinking water on a regular basis during the day. Also, with these hot days, it is adviseable that children have little 'coolies' in their lunch boxes, to keep their lunches cool.

A form is going home today, to advise you of what apps are required on each device. Just a reminder that if children have a device at home, they are allowed to bring these for learning purposes at school. All children who have a device, will be required to sign a user agreement which will also be sent home today. This form will last them through their schooling time whilst at Toko School.

Every year, if you are a parent help in the classroom, or helping with children in education outside the classroom, parents are now required to sign a code of conduct.

Forms are being sent home today advising parents about the upcoming beach-education to be held at Fitzroy Beach on 22nd February.

Going home today is our schools Digial Citiz3enship Policies, to those families new to our school. We ask that you read through this and discuss the Responisble Use Agreement with your children. We will also be discussing this and referring to it on a regular basis at school. Can you please sign and return the Parent Declaration section of this policy.

Our bees have done a great job of pollinating our trees in the orchard, hence our apple trees have bourne a lot of fruit. We would love some parent help next week, to peel these apples, chop them up and put them in our freezer so later on in the year we can use these to produce some lovely chutneys etc. A working bee for this is to be held on Monday 11th February. Please phone or email Annette in the office if you are able to help.
